Title: I've installed it but it still doesn't seem to work

I've installed four times now... but the program that pops up is some kind of dvd thing? I don't know what's wrong...

Hiya! You're not being very clear with your problem, so we cannot help you until you give more details. What is your operating system, what did you use for the download (mirror or BitTorrent), what exactly comes up (post a screenshot if needed), etc.

I tried to use the blue mirror download. And, well, I'm not really sure how to be more specific. I thought I was being specific... but, um, it basically told me it was downloaded so I clicked "run" and it opened "powerdvd" which I'm pretty sure isn't the right program because it wouldn't do anything...

Was that more helpful or am I just babbling now?

Heheh, still need a little more details :) What "blue mirror" are you referring to? We have four mirrors listed on the Downloads page. You still haven't mentioned what your operating system is, though.

Ack. Oh yeah! Um... that would be the first one listed... right under the bit torrent thing... and I didn't label my forum right, it's not installed yet... just downloaded.

I have a Windows XP... system... I think that's the system.

Ah, I see what the problem is. You have downloaded the torrent file, not the actual client. The file you have downloaded, PlaneShift_CBV0.3.014b.exe.torrent, requires a BitTorrent client to run - what this will do is begin the actual download by connecting to other people who also have the file, and you will basically be downloading it from them instead of off a website. You just didn't follow step 1: Get BitTorrent client (http://www.bittorrent.com/) and install it.

If this sounds too complicated, just move down a bit lower and download the installation file from one of the four actual mirrors, right after the line "Windows Client (280,498,209 bytes):"

Thankies! And you're right, that's what I was doing and I realized it a moment or two ago and downloaded it and then found the program... but now I still don't know how to make it work... I have a bit torrent download on my computer and two planeshift icons that are both different... one won't work and the other opens a bit torrent page (two of them...) that always say there is an error because it is already running?

Start over, this will be easier. Delete the PlaneShift icons, and download the installation file from one of the mirrors. This will be quicker and far less painful ;)

Hey Cas, if you skype or something, I'm free to help walk yeah through the process.  As for your question, each mirror has the same file on it.  So all you need to do is pick one, or I can send you the file directly using a chat program.  What ever works for you.  And welcometo PS, I think you'll enjoy it here.

Thanks, I'd really appreciate it if you'd be nice enough to walk me through it. My problem with the mirror was that it took me to a different website with a list of files and folders to download but I couldn't find a "download" button or anything...

And I'm pretty sure it might already be downloaded... because whenever I try to run the torrent program I got it says that the planeshift is already running... but I can't for the life of me find it!

Currently, I'm trying to download mirror three to see if that will work... but it's taking much longer than the other downloads did... I think I might be messing my computer up somehow...

You aren't :) When you click on a mirror and it takes you to another website, read the instructions at the top - it's asking you to choose the download location that is closest to you, so you get the best download speeds. All the info is out there, you just have to pay attention a little more ;)

Do a search on your system for a file called:

PlaneShift_CBV0.3.014b.exe

and run that.

That is the actual install file which will install the game.  If you don't have that,  pick a method to contact me (under my name :) ) and i'll just send it to you through that.  Gosh I'm in the gernerous mood tonight.

Casild, just follow the instructions - choose a mirror, then choose the location closest to you, and download :)

Now I am very confused...

But I do have the program neko kyouran mentioned... but whenever I open it a bit torrent page pops up and says ""PlaneShift_CBV0.3.014b.exe" : This torrent (or one with the same contents) is already running." I don't really get it because I'm sure I'm not running the program already!

aim (aol instant messenger), msn, Skype, etc......

heck if you have a gmail account, that has one as well, but no file transfer ability.

I use Trillian, it manages all of the ones i set up for myself.  Take your pick, I am currently online in all accounts just becuase I can be.

Well for anyone that cares, it took the night, but Cas is now in game.  Expect to see a new fenki running around.  Not sure of the name though, she had to run off to school before I could ask her.  /me shrugs
