Heya :) GMs don't do wipes, that is the job of the developers, and necessary sometimes.
Guilds based on out-of-game nationalities are strictly discouraged, because they are formed for OOC (out-of-character) and non-roleplay reasons. There is no Poland in Yliakum, so a guild based on Polish members just doesn't make sense. I don't think we have one, or at least I've never heard of one on the forums nor in-game.

hmm....
Of course, you could make a mistical land up and just say it's for people from there while really it's for people from poland :P
The best idea though is to find a friends of your nationality and just all join another guild together

well, in Yliakum i doubt every single person speaks the same language. If we speak english why cant another part or Yliakum speak polish, or Italian or French? I know we speak english because thats what most people understand but what about TonYPL and maybe others? i think he should make a polish guild but maybe not say ther from poland. they could say there from another part in Yliakum (agreeing with Waylander).

The only different languages are those of the individual races - and if TonYPL decides to speak Polish for, say, a Klyros, and says that he is just speaking in his Klyros tongue, that would mean that every Klyros player should be able to understand him. It's unrealistic, and this has been discussed before too. There are no "regional" dialects or languages in Yliakum.

not trying to argue, just proving a point.
1) An italian man is speaking italian to his mom. Someone from the USA phones him, and he understands english. He knows 2 launguages.
2) how do languages get formed? someone makes them up and shares with his friends and it continues
3) If you are trying to make it realistic then everyone from their certain race should learn their specifi language (EX. a dwarf learns dwarven and a kran speaks..w/e they speak.).which is immpossible because too many people dont have the time to do that.
4) How can the game be fun for polish speakers if they can only communicate with 1 other person or polish people he meets? by creating a guild that speaks polish
5)(EX. a group of friends decide to make a language. a code. that way if they are in a public area and someone talks, only the friends know what he/she is saying). with another language other people dotn no, you can say anything you want and no one will understand.
why cant races know different languages? some people in RL can speak 2 or more languages. its more realistic if a klyros can learn a different language than if hes only allowed to know 1. and unless you make everyone IG speak there characters language you have to us ethe ones we have in RL including polish.

You said that they could say that they are from another part of Yliakum - my point was that there are no regional dialects or languages. It's not in the setting. Making them up and attributing them to a certain part of Yliakum would be altering the settings, which is a bad idea.
Anyone is free to create whatever guild they want - but guilds based on nationality alone will always be discouraged and nitpicked on.

and if TonYPL decides to speak Polish for, say, a Klyros, and says that he is just speaking in his Klyros tongue, that would mean that every Klyros player should be able to understand him.
I disagree. Chinese and English are both Human tongues and not all humans speak it.
I agree there should be a standard, but if two people from Poland want to say Polish is an exotic Klyros tongue there should be nothing wrong with that.
I don't remember reading anything about no regional dialects or anything like that so I will, for the sake of the argument, just take your word for it.
But then we have people who claim to have been transported into the land, who says they wouldn't speak a different language...it would be probably that they spoke a different language, they'd learn the Yliakum language (english) but, the could still speak the other language to those who also know it.

This is a repeat argument. Read this (http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=20266.0) thread for a previous one.

As much as I would love to read through 5 pages of threads, I am going to resist :P
Agreed this has been discussed before, but that was what, 6 months ago. Since then there have been more players coming from backgrounds with less english that we would like. I agree it should be kept off of the shout channel but, we can not ignore the amount of people around who can't speak english that well.
I'd also like to point out that I think fken left shortly after that thread, to say the least his activity dropped. We are pushing players away by enforcing language laws...we're like Quebec :P
I'll read the thread you linked to tommorow, perhaps it will change my views

@waylander: yes but there are only one specie who speaks with words, other animals speak by growling, whining etc. And we can't understand it (but some try to anyway ;))

Fair enough Peacer. I don't really care about the languages ingame and roleplayed that much. I just think that we may need to change a few things considering the amount of people who have began to join with very little knowledge of english.
