Title: Vaalnor Shop Website
Post by: Archon on April 29, 2006, 03:57:47 am
The Vaalnor Shop in Ojaveda has evolved!

We used to be in Ojaveda practically everyday in the past, sadly we were out of business for some time. We're back now; and better! Now we can be contacted even when we're outside of Yliakum!

http://www.vaalnorshop.co.nr

Don't be affriad to tell us what your order is! We may not have what you want, but letting us know informs us of the current demand and will allow us to obtain what is needed, which will in turn bring the item into your inventory!
We hope to see you around on the website and in Ojaveda!

-The Vaalnor Shop Team

No connection... Is the server up? Are the nameservers pointing to the right spot? >.>

Tis a free web host. It should be working now, I have it working. I haven't a clue why it didn't work for you.

If it continues to not work for anyone else, I'll switch hosts.

The website isn't working for me, but I think it would be great if CoV was up and running again.

Archon: speaking of free hosting ;]

Looks like it might be a little off.. is vaalnorshop.com supposed to redirect to another url, like a freepgs thing or some such?

If that doesn't work out give me a poke on IRC (josePhoenix or iKtomi in #ps-mc) or a PM and I can set you up with some hosting.

Ta da!

Reason for not working: Archon is a moron. Haha.

I made a typo, instead of .com it is .co.nr
CoV is back and hitting this year hard. The shop is kicking off and we will start recruiting again here soon.
Josepheonix, I thank you for the offer, as soon as I learn PHP and get a job, I will be turning the Vaalnor Shop website into an official website (not freely hosted).

The Vaalnor Shop has made O--) 305,000 O--) trias today. To all customers, we thank you! We're happy to be of service!

Hehe, what's life without a challenge eh? I don't mind what profits we make, so long as we can satisfy those in need.

It might be advisable to get something other than Geodudes, Fragism is a host that I used to use for one of my websites

http://www.fragism.com/

It is technically for clans but I think this does class as a kind of clan at least in their eyes. It is much less intrusive than Geodudes and also comes with a forum.

Also I love the whole concept of a player run shop and the best of luck to you.

Ah, I agree. I hate my current host, free or not. Always have, but I always use it to start the sites, no idea why.. Anyways, soon Induane and I will be looking into hosting the Vaalnor Shop website on his server. I hope I can make the site a lot better, currently it's extremely bland. Thank you for the luck, if you're ever in Ojaveda, please look us up if we're open.

hey congrats
very nice idea of having a store

just two things,

1. prices, it would be good to have at least and estimated price, maybe a range like:
(just for illustration purposes)
axe 150-250 trias
axe +1 500-750 trias

and also, glyphs cost 10 what? not trias i guess, octans? euros? haha

2. online ordering, or more like request ahead, like: hey guys, i need one glyph of air, i´ll be online by 4:00 gmt at ur store...

Whether we'll put prices up is still under discussion. From one side it does make it easier towards the customers. But from the other side it takes away most of the RP in-game. Players won't need to ask for a price anymore, they'll just come into the store saying "I need X" open a trade window, drop the right ammount of trias and done. We prefer to keep those situations as low as possible. This is why I personally prefer to keep things like prices restricted to in-game. If someone is interested in buying they can ask the price and they can barter for it.

Online ordering is already available through the contracts page, though that probably needs a clearer title.

As a potential customer, having a website that doesn't list prices is almost (but not quite) pointless.  Prices might be a little fluid right now, I understand, but it'd be more attractive to have a MSRP up there or something, so we have an idea from looking at your website.

Depending on the item, it will have a listed price. Some items just change more often than we can update. Which would lead to confusion and unhappy customers. Also, yes, I need to change the contract page and form. I'll get right on that as soon as possible.

The 10 (roughly) by the Energy glyphs means we have roughly 10 of them, it's our stock. Also, if you would please, I'll make an area in the vaalnor shop forum for suggestions, register on the forum, and post how we could improve the site, we welcome all the help that comes. If the ideas are from our customers, that's a sure thing that it will satisfy them.

An idea popped into my head just now about the pricings, I'll add it to the site soon and see how you all like it.

EDIT: I've added a new pricing format. Please let us know if it suits your needs on our forum. We've allowed you to estimate how much you would need, and still allow RP in game when running the shop.
