Title: OS 10.2.8
Post by: eggplantboy on May 03, 2006, 09:23:06 pm
Hello all,

I was wondering whether there are others out there using OS 10.2.8. I am and I can't get any of the latest PlaneShift apps to launch. Has anyone else had the same or similar problems? Maybe we can form a support group for those of us with older systems. :)

Hrmm... I think dfryer has the fixed version in the repository at this point. Ummm... Which updater are you using? If you're using the Java Updater, try deleting everything from your PS folder except data, logs, screenshots, updaterconfig.xml, and Updater-old.jar and then updating.

Hi there,

I tried updating as per your instructions using mirror 2 with no change. I'll try using mirror one in the near future.

EDIT: I've repeated the process with mirror 1 with the same result (i.e. the apps still fail to launch). ChaOs, I noticed in another thread you said, "I don't think there's a complete Mac bundle out yet, and the updaters need admin privileges to allow you to run the apps." Could these issues have anything to do with my problem, or do they pertain only to using BitTorrent?

P.S. Also, Updater-old says that the repository is out of date when I use either mirror 1 or 2...

I'm considering booting back up in 10.2.8 since there seems to be some junk associated with 10.3 that isn't needed but is linked in by default.  I really could do to test 10.2.8 locally, and now that school's out it might be more feasible.

Howdy,

dfryer - I'll be curious to hear about your testing goes. Oh, and congrats on this term's temporary freedom!

Well, it seems like the issues run deeper than I expected - I need to learn a few more tricks for configuration in 10.3, or set up my 10.2 development environment again and build from there, because after I fixed all the issues mentioned here, plus a few more, they just kept cropping up.

I'm not giving up on 10.2 but for now you're out of luck :(

Howdy,

So if PS doesn't work out for 10.2, I may just have to bite the bullet and upgrade to a newer OS (I've got a few music software reasons to do so as well). Does anyone know if an old iBook G3 w/ 640MB RAM might have problems doing so?

You should be fine for 10.3. Not sure about the specs needed for 10.4.

Howdy all,

I was just wondering whether there is any news either way about getting PS to work with 10.2. Thanks. :)

Sorry, no news yet. I hate to say it, but I'd recommend just grabbing the new OS. PS for 10.2 is going to be quite a while, if it is ever done again...
