I contacted Willem van der Poel from the FTP crew at the Technical University in Twente (Netherlands) if he wanted to put the latest version of Planeshift on their public FTP, and he granted my request. That means Planeshift will now have a new fast mirror, it's a university FTP, so there's more than enough bandwith (understatement).
I quickly tested the mirror and I downloaded with 400 kb/sec, with a spike at 600 kb/sec, so yeah, that's fast ;D

I tried that, but both the torrent and the files that are already mirrored on links, shown on the download page, are either unavailable or down.
The torrent gives no speed at all, which is really frustrating, thus i can't get the files...

Its being downloaded from the link above as we speak. Steady speed, about 200kb/s, very nice!

It's a lot faster actually, i'm at 950 kb/sec and still climbing. There is plenty of bandwith your speed really only depends on your own ISP, will 15 be mirrored here aswell??
Perhaps its an idea to get this mirror on the download page aswell?

I know it's an out of date client, but fast for one is not fast for all; recognition and kudos are due to those willing to assist us :D, and besides - like you - we are all eager to explore all the new areas ASAP, so testing the link is sorta natural dont you think?

Of course if we all try to use this once .15 comes out, it may be a different story. But its always nice to have options.

my favourite thing is the fact it supports resuming failed downloads, great for ppl (like me) with a connection that has a tendency to drop out at the most inconvenient of times :thumbup:

Regarding resumable downloads: If that's true, it's also going to be great for those who have download limits, or have parents who limit their online time. I don't have those problems myself now, but I know what it's like for those who do.

Works for me, constant topspeed.
with my 640 kB/sec it needed just over 7 mins. Nice one.
Hope i can test it soon on the new release. >o)

/me reads all the download times here and is thankfull for his own connection. :P its just under 5 minutes for me, but then, i bet you guys don't even pay near half as much as i do to my isp, and lines like this are the ONLY ones that my bandwith even begins to pay off.

PS It seems the server disconnects for a short time at 80% so it can interrupt your download. Please use a download manager that is able to continue downloads ;)
EDIT: The linux binary is considered unofficial. Here comes a post from Xordan that should explain it:
An official package will be released this month containing all the correct art, along with various bug fixes. Source tarballs will also be released at this time.
NOTE THAT THIS PACKAGE IS INCOMPLETE, BUT WILL ALLOW YOU TO PLAY TO SOME EXTENT.
You will be able to update anything that this package doesn't contain from the updater once it has all the new content!

I know there was a bug in the original .15 mac release, and that it's now fixed, but I'll wait for a moment untill more people confirm it's working smooth.

Zen, stop posting.
1) It's been said many times over now that it will go up and down as after a new client release, it is flakey as we as testers find bugs that cause it to crash. These bugs are then fixed in time, and the server gains more stability. Just be patient.
2) There doesn't need to be multiple threads made/posts about this issue, so if it crashes, you don't need to inform everyone. You don't need to reply to a post stating its down, and you certainly don't need to create new threads every time it goes down.
3) This isn't even an appropriate thread to announce that to begin with. X-/

I have immense troubles getting both Mainline BitTorrent 4.4 and another cli BT client to connect to the tracker for days, even
though my Azareus at home could do it, so I can't seed it for now, but I'll keep trying. Perhaps going for a multitracker .torrent file
might help if the tracker is too loaded to answer queries? I'm very sure its not a FW issue here at least.

Seems like Az only picks the Linux/win versions up, over the DHT trackerless thingie, so there definately is some kind of issue
with the tracker at laanx.fragnetics.com, unless the admin there dont want people to seed this with non-Az clients?
