Now I'm pretty new to the game, so please forgive me if this seems like an obvious question, but how can Charisma be used in-game?
I'm trying to craft a character to be a diplomat, but so far, I haven't found any way to do that outside of pure in-character text roleplay, which is naturally ineffective when it comes to NPCs.
So if you can't use it for natural charm, what does Charisma effect?
-
Right now, nearly nothing. Things are still being fleshed out, so some stats and skills aren't yet available for use or influence, Charisma being one of them. There are some weapons that may require a certain amout of CHA for you to wield them, but these are rare and not necessarily the best. And our NPC system is still in its very infancy, as we still have a long way to go with dialogues. Text roleplay takes care of such things for now.

During character creation, Charisma is important if you want to start with higher levels for various skills - Crystal Way among them.

charisma gives more mana and improoves spell effect of crystal and dark way
-
Can we please get a dev confirmation of whether Charisma truly makes Summon Arrow, Life Infusion more powerful ingame right now? Thank you.

Tested, no effect.

interesting *jots down a note about to no longer train charisma*
-
Training your mental stats increased your Mana points, so Charisma does have a purpose. Sort of.
On a related note, does this mean that improving your will and intelligence won't affect your red, blue, brown and azure ways?
-
In general, the mental stats don't affect the power of the spells or the casting time yet. Only the increase of your mana "pool" is noticeable.
The magical way skills seem to reduce the amount of mana consumed per cast, and might affect the probability slightly (although this is more affected by the power level you chose while casting, I would never suggest >30% here, usually 10-20%)
-
If you have high Charisma, will your CW spell fail less often?
-
In fact charisma increases mana points and determines how strong you appear to others.
I tested it and found out that when two chars have almost the same skills and stats
but different charisma one appears stronger than the other.
A boost from 70 to 120 in charisma changed the estimation.
So it`s like in real life, you can have a weak body but appear strong when you are charismatic. :D
I also tested ways to increase the power of magic, even with 220 in charisma the energy arrow neither
causes more damage, nor let you cast the spell faster nor uses up less mana.
The only thing that the percent bar changes is the amount of mana you need, the higher the more mana points.
When you are lucky and the spell was successful with 50% you wasted mana without any effect.
Tell me if you made different experiences, i would be grateful ;)

Spell % bar is broken I think. It just sucks up mana for nothing.
-
maybe in this version...but in the .13 version, it worked for me
-
Not all spells' powers are related to the mana consumption. For some spells (like Freeze), there is a formula documented in their description, how the consumption affects the duration or impact.
And ... well, we may not assume that this formula is still correct. Too many developers might have worked on this part. ;)
