is the energy glyph quest reopened?i need an energy glyph cause im new but they cost a fortune......its not fair that other people have energy glyphs and we dont have any

why isn't it fair? Its mostly the old players who have the energy glyphs. Plus if i have heard correctly, there is a new quest which gives a stronger healing spell. Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

That potion is just a example use of one of the new scripting operations I created. It won't be put on Laanx. ;)

Hiya iasonas,
There will always be items in games that new players won't be able to get immediately. That's part of the reason why it's fun to stay and play, to get those nifty things and have a great time reaching for them. It may take a while, but you're here to grow as a character, right? Not everything will be handed to you on a silver platter ;}

HA! Put the time and effort I have into the game and then you shall be rewarded. I would think it wouldn't be fair if everyone could get the energy glyph so easy, as I worked for it. You should have too as well. Good luck. ::)

Wouldn't you have gotten yours from the Brado quest?
Anyway, there are a lot of people running around with "extra" energy glyphs. Make some friends and you might be given one.

I got two or three from the brado quest, then bought one from Bodacher's shop (using an alt (but don't tell him)), then bought five from Anthony's shop before he left PS. I've given enough of them away that I have four or five left. I've been saving them for 'notable' individuals, but as I still have some left... it's been slim pickings.

Keep an eye out for Game Master events or events that rich players put on. I got mine by finding an iron stock in the sewers and returning it to the owner.

We've been really busy - we haven't had time for events for a long time. And while this definitely has sucked, we're going to try kicking things into high-gear now that it's pretty much summer. People have work, people have classes, finals, emergencies, trips, etc.
But! More events should be coming. So yes, keep an eye out :}

First of all, allow me to explain that Planeshift is not by any means my fir MMO. In fatc I have surely been playing computer games longer than most who now play have been alive.
That said:
Not everyone likes the same thing in games. That is why in a MMO you deversify allot. Fighting, questing, crafting, etc.
This is the first MMO that I have been in contact where so much opportunity for creation and story telling exitst. Don't like the backstory so far? get involved with the developers and help move it in a better direction. That is a very GOOD thing.
On the other side of the coin, we have the absolute worst elitest attitude in any game, ever. And that is a very BAD thing.
Want to start a quest but don't have a clue? Too bad. You will never even get started unless someone helps you, and noone will. Its just not done here. Only those who wrote and implemented the puzzles (and their friends) are able to solve them.
It is possible, and quite likely, that a player can wander the world for literally months, apeaking to every NPC and never devine a clue as to how a certain quest is started, let alone finished.
Some folks find this attractive because so few are able to penetrate the real mysteries of the game. Very few players ever recieve the 'rewards' that can be had. Although that is how it should be, it should be a result of skill, advancement, guild, etc. and not simply hoarded knowledge. Its dissapointing.
Lots of examples exist besides the energy glyph. Here is another one.
Can fire be trained beyond 20? Good luck. Only another 'knowledable' player can help you. It cannot be determined by brute force, determination, or in game semantics. It is simply a 'secret' that is not shared. Again, dissapointing.
That should be enough to illustrate the point.
Sour grapes? Sure. I don't want to be an elitest in order to continue to advance in game. I have maxed swords, all physical stats (as far as can be determined in game) and fire to 20. Now days game play for me is standing around the common areas trying to catch an interestinf dialog.

ah, let's see whats the word that usually gets trotted out... um yes ... pre-alpha.
and as for getting a quest... the phrase do you have a quest, or give me a quest... not too hard... i think.

As long as they're posted in public and not created to happen in five minutes after being announced on IRC, you can count me in. =P

Mm, I can understand that for big events. But what about smaller ones, that would involve 5-7 people? We'd make an announcement, and get a huge group that wouldn't be right for that particular event. There will be large events that will involve 10+ people, I'm sure, but an announcement for every event at all wouldn't really be appropriate.

The energy glyph can be obtained by anyone ingame.
the quest can be completed once and gives the glyph as reward.

Once as in one time only once or once as in complete the quest, discard it from the quests lists (never got why you could discard a completed quest anyway) and then do it over again? Not sure about recently, but in the past I was able to do that for a few to be able to do them again, even after they were completed.

You can complete the quest only once.
discarding does not help you to obtain the quest again.

I don't think this is a spoiler, you get a choice of glyph at the end of the quest, so if you can only do it once, and don't choose Energy, then what ? how do you get it.

Or buy one from one of the shops, players seem to have extras for sale all the time. And while we're at it, lets plug Proglin's Auction House. I'm sure one could find a glyph or two floating around that place.

If you picked the *wrong* reward after the quest you could always go get the quest with an alternate character of yours. Just make sure to pick the energy glyph this time since the other rewards are easily obtained.

Hargoth there are many more stats to max out than just the main stats, sword and fire. You could try maxing out dagger or light armor or melee (It will be great when melee weapons are available such as gauntlets) or lots of other things. You could also try joining a guild if you haven't already or start a guild and make a website and a story. Sure some quests aren't easy but they can be solved even if you do learn the answer from someone else. You could try to make some friends in the game and you could help each other on quests or other things. You can also roleplay or work on making in game RP events if you are good at that sort of thing. If you have a RP idea that you think you could use the GM's help on try contacting one of them. One thing I enjoy is collecting strange and rare weapons such as stat boosting weapons. I have a sword that boosts 3 of my main stats for a cumulative +65 stat boost while I hold it. Just enjoy the game, its fun, its free and its still a work in progress (pre alpha).

Harforth, i'm not at all one of those elitist players you describe and i don't have any trouble at all getting any of the information you referr to. All you need to do is interact with other players and they tell you. Maybe you should try roleplaying on of your questions instead of just bluntly asking OOC. Because if you only put in a little effort to phrase your question IC almost ALL the players that know the answer will help you. But shouting or asking in auction is generally ignored THAT is the thing that is not done in planeshift. Helping eachother out with quests or other things is done and you really don't have to belong to some inner circle of someone to get the answers.

This means you could have something more interesting to do other than wandering in search for good conversation, NPC aren't infinite, and if you're smart most of the secrets can be
discovered with no big efforts (another kind of issue is when you have a **** note that someone doesn't want to give you back.....).
