Title: Lordi
Post by: ThomPhoenix on May 25, 2006, 05:09:02 pm
The winner of this year's Eurovision Songfestival was Lordi, a hardrock band.
The eurovision had been known to produce the most worse music on earth and this year was no difference, did anyone see Iceland?  :-X
Anyway, after having seen the half finals I didn't watch the finals because the music was so bad, but then I heard Lordi had won, I really didn't see that coming.
So I listened to their music and it's quite good for a Eurovision song.
What do you think about it?

The song is available on their (myspace  :-X ) website with the official clip: http://www.myspace.com/thelordi
The performance on Eurovison is available here:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OqBGffYpE9I

Yeah! Hard rock hallelujah! Hyvä Suomi!
Really glad that Finland won the Eurovision.

And we didn't only win, we did win with the most points in the Eurovision song contests all time.
And that Iceland, lol, she even called GOD in the song.   :@#\

And btw, that m*y*s*p*a*c*e isnät their official homepage  :)

Hard Rock Hallelujah is really corny.  Listened to 30 seconds then had to stop.
Blood Red Sandman is too nicklebach.  Once the techno kicked in, I stopped listening.
Devil is a Loser isn't bad.  It has a more classic metal / antrhax feel to it, which I like.  It got boring after a while though.
It Snows in Hell's intro reminds me of bad gothic electronica.  It was nothing special after that.

So.... crap.  Sorry.

No need to apologize. :)   :)
The quality of this song is really great compared to other Eurovision songs, you should've seen Iceland! Or Turkey!

Bjork... Meshuggah... Sigur Ros... Interpol... just off the top of my head.

Are those bands from other years?
Anyway, they're great compared to this year's songs, though I really like Ukraine's song.

That's russia right, with the guy dancing on the piano?
Well, the music isn't that bad, but it's not my style, it's a bit too boyband like.

What did you think of my country's performance: Treble? They didn't even make it to the finals, hehe. ::)

It's not to bad for a Pop Band... Can't consider it metal though.

*Looks at the cheese dripping down from Lordi*

Overall, a good melodic/hard rock band. Finally some 'music' on that song contest thingy.
With the tendency of the votes, I still have hopes that Norway will send Dimmu Borgir next year. :woot:

eew >.< thei're reason for second place is because of their alliances not playing fair and gives them max points or something like that which is really really...

The only reason I watch it is to see the countries playing the politics game, and to watch Sir Terry Wogan (BBC program presenter) make fun of every entry and every countries vote result presenter :P He rocks.

Yeah... Terry Wogan is funny but he's just getting less and less original every year. I guess making jokes about Eurovision songs wears you out after a while. There weren't as many bad songs this eurovision as I expected. I liked Ukraine, Danmark, Germany, Bosnia, Macedonia, Ireland...
Sakis (the greek host) sucked ass. Maria was a little better... and the Dutch guy made me laugh.
Anyways, it was fun.

I must agree on the politics, the countries of former yugoslavia almost always vote on eachother.  X-/

Well it's kinda rigged ;)
I mean, Germany's giving 12 points to Turkey every year, no matter with what crap they come up with. I wonder why that is. :P
