Title: open with?

whenever i open planeshift it says open with?

do you mean the installer?

Open either Konsole or Terminal (depending on whether you are using KDE) then enter the directory that has the file.

then type

sh planeshift_insertactualfilename.bin

so i downloaded planeshift and now its on my browser and when i double click the icon it says i have to open it with something.but what?
btw. i'm using linux.

You have to make it executable. By default Linux doesn't allow you to run downloaded files (opposite to Windows where they are run even without asking you first).

Either right-click on the file and open the Properties window or change permissions on the console. On the Properties window, check the "executable" flag. On the console, run "chmod a+x PlaneShift_CBV0.3.014b.bin".

ok thx i marked execute.but now nothing happens when i open the file.

Start it from the console ./PlaneShift_CBV0.3.014b.bin

If it has problems, you should see some error messages there.

I installed it with my OpenSuSE and Ubuntu this way

cd <Directory which the installer is inside>
chmod a+x PlaneShift_CBV0.3.014b.bin
./PlaneShift_CBV0.3.014b.bin

try this

i found the problem (i was using the microsoft version)  :oops:
but still thx to all who helped me!!! \\o//
btw. is there any help for newbies or a tutorial in the game?

Glad to hear that you got the problem solved, ignace :}
