How many messages can we have in our mailboxes before there's trouble?

I was about to start a new topic asking this very question. Does anyone know if there are storage limits at all?

I don't see any obvious limits at the moment. I will check later to see if there is a hard limit to the number of private messages a person can have.

I have 102 sitting in my mailbox right now.  If there's a limmit, then it's relatively high.

The default limit is 0 (=unlimited) and judging from acraig's words it was not changed. Limit can be set per membergroup.
Mailboxes are just like ordinary threads, do they need any limits ?...
