The Helpers of Yliakum guild is organizing a big whole-of-yiakum event!
We are going to organize a big race from the East Hydlaa gate (in the library area) to the Oja Gate.
The race will be run in three stints; Hydlaa Statue - Forest Gate, Forest Intersection - Oja Tunnel, and End of Oja Tunnel - Oja Warehouse District.
There will be prizes!
1st Prize: One rare glyph and a rare sword; worth 9000+ trias
2nd Prize: A three glyph pack from Levrus, of the winners choice; worth 3000 trias
3rd Prize: A complete set of armour and shield; worth 1900 trias
All participants will recieve a small prize!
We will have methods to stop cheating in place.

Sounds pretty interresting, though you should have posted this in the "In-Game Roleplay Events"- Subboard :)
-
I know, but that said events made by the GMs and I am not a GM
-
Sounds fun, can't wait to find about the time. If I can, I'll be there.
-
hmm it's not good to make a race which includes passing loading points... it gives others a certain advantage, specially thoose with a good computer who can load all maps and keep them loaded for not having the loading screen
-
They could run it like the Tour de France, where it is a series of race from loading point to loading point, and they declare whomever wins more the winner.
-
Moved to In-Game Events. The loading points will favor those with faster systems - I'm not too fond of this part. This should be IC as much as possible.
-
I also though of the way that the better your computer is the better you will do. I'll put some thought in a way to get around this. Thanks for moving it!
-
Rerogo offered a nice solution, though :} Race from loading point to loading point, keeping track of who arrives first/second/third/etc. - once one loading point is passed by everyone, start the race again - and whoever reaches the most loading points, would pretty much win the race.
-
LARAGORN starts running on the spot ;D

depending on who will be joining this race i think it might go get a bt confusing to thoose organizing it :(
-
Why? :x Race to one loading point - keep track of the winners, cross loading point all together, wait for everyone to make it, race again to the next loading point, etc. Seems fairly simple.

I'd participate but I lag bad enough running from Oja to Hydlaa, but in a huge 100 person group running from wherever to wherever I'd freeze and end up dead last. =/
-
With potentially 100 racers I can only imagine the lag. :-\ But since everybody basically runs at the same speed, that will only make it more interesting. Sounds like fun just to be a part of it and enjoy the site. Thanks for organizing, I hope I can make it.

SGT? Translation/equivalent times?

SGT is Singapore time.
It is also the same as server time.
You can convert the SGT time to your time with this http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html

( A slight comment again, regarding this event, specially considering that it seems it hasn't taken place already.
The thing is, again, if this event is meant to be IC, or not. The thread started somewhere else (I've no idea where) and then was moved to in game RP events. I assume then, that the organizer mentality is to have this event in IC boundaries.
I must say that roleplaying a race sounds like a hard thing to do. Because if we're to roleplay a race, the game mechanics really aren't going to help. Currently, no matter what you type in your description, that won't alter your char stats. So, if I play a very old char, if I hold the shift key and use arrows, my char will go as fast as any other char (awaiting new movement system to be implemented, that might change this ;) ) but it should get tired quicker than another competitor, perhaps even unable to finish the race at all. But probably the game mechanics aren't going to help me with that.
As I see it, the race is OOC. Beware, that is nothing that lowers the value of it. I just simply state that having it IC, will be quite hard (it would require to deeply know each of the chars involved as to guarantee all is indeed IC, requiring for instance that all competitors have a description to know if that char really was able or not, to win the race) in that sense an OOC race for fun doesn't harm anyone. It's equally fun. Having a "this is an IC race" tag won't make it more fun. If it's not possible, then so be it. This is going to be, imo, a good chance for the players to have fun, trying to drive their chars by the shortest way possible to the finish line, once someone shouts the "go!" word. Once again, there's nothing wrong with it being, imo, not fully IC, even more, those kind of events helps to find and have fun with other players, stressing player relationship and good mood, and that, in the end, can only benefit the RP that may arise from it later.)
