Title: What is this game??

so i stumbled upon this site and people seem to be active here! and i have never heard anything about this game

is it a real game? is it a game-to-be and people are testing it? im really confused as to what this is because the graphics and stuff look decent for some random free game

im an active Dark Age of Camelot player so just fyi

but yea, what is this game all about?

www.planeshift.it contains most of the information you are looking for.

To sum it up, PlaneShift is an opensource MMORPG that is, and will be, free to play forever. The development team consists of a small number of volunteers from around the world that have joined together to contribute to the project. PlaneShift began as a MUD and started 3D development some years ago. Development is slow, but steady, and there are usually monthly updates. Players are "Testers" of the current pre-alpha version, 0.3, codenamed Crystal Blue. The game style is focused around Roleplaying, so Powerlevelers do not see much love in the community :) and everyone is free to suggest ideas and report bugs in order to aid the team in the creation of the game.

sounds interesting maybe ill give it a try

got any tips for starting how the classes work and which would be fun/easy to start out with?

You may want to take a look at the "Getting Started In-Game" guide stickied in this forum section. It explains (the lack of) classes among other info, and will give you more of a glimpse as to what is currently possible and how some systems work.

There are no classes. you just train and try out whatever you want.

I should warn you know this is a role-playing based game, and powerleveling and action out of character is looked down on.
