Title: crashed when mouse move out of the window
Post by: dktw2006 on June 13, 2006, 09:20:08 am
I run planeshift client on Fedora Core 5 with 800x600 window mode. Sometimes when I move mouse out of the window, it crashed. And whole system hanged. Everything "frozen". All i can do is to force restart. It also happened on running "pssetup".

I think it might be some problems between X and graphic card or openGL. So I updated the driver to 8.25.18 (My graphic card is ATI9600). But it happened again.

Now I run it with fullscreen mode and give up using other software(example: gaim).
I am jist a beginner of linux with broke English. I only know little about system. I don't know how to find out what make my system hanged.

Is this a bug? Or due to my bad config?

My system environment:
OS:fedora core 5 with kernel 2.6.16-1.2133.fc5 Xorg:7.0.0 CPU:AMD 2200+ ram:512mb graphic driver:Ati linux driver 8.25.18

Do you simply move the mouse cursor away from the game window or you also activate other windows?

There is a parameter in psclient.cfg that you can try to modify:
Code: [Select]
Video.SystemMouseCursor = yes
Change it to no and see what happens. At least it didn't harm my system ;)

Otherwise I am afraid that you have to wait until ATI releases a new driver that hopefully fixes the problem. I had some random freezes with my NVidia card, but they got fixed with a driver upgrade.
