how does one find the FPS on the game?

Use an external app or build bugplug.  It's not built in at this time.

At that point is probably faster if you look at old code and see how the FPS (still quite important in a "demo" game) were shown.
Bugplug is a plugin offered by CS, if you have more questions about it, just ask. I am afraid though that it won't be so simple if you have no big knowledge of how to build everything.
