Title: Grass on oja road.
Post by: Kramel Rockbeard on June 22, 2006, 04:16:16 am
The grass on oja road makes some computers run very slowly.  It would be nice if we could turn it off in pssetup.

This has been discussed a lot you know:
-lower resolution
-adaptive distance on
-drivers, drivers and more up-to-date drivers
-better graphics card <-- notice this one, it's really good.

Or, you could always have an option to turn off grass, like he asked for. Would make it a lot less complicated. =P

Not only is Oja grass making your game slow, but also...it just floats in the air, like around that one rogue. It's freaky.

I know, but to just build in this feature because one guy has a slow pc?

I doubt it's just one guy, and an option to disable foliage doesn't sound so weird.

I didn't hear that much people complain about it, but if you really want to be able to disable it then you should prod some dev about it.
I think some code will be needed to change, because I didn't see anything foliage related in the .cfg files (or I missed it), maybe it's something for a prospect?

I trip and stumble trying to run through that grass and bush infested valley.
for the amout of people that run that same area wouldnt there be a worn path ?
A turn off opption would be a god send.  \\o//

I made a feature request for this. I'm not sure how difficult it will be to add, but it's a definite must-have. LOD (level of detail) options are important.

Thanks for that Xordan...  I really hope this can be done.  I can't exactly afford an upgrade for my computer right now, so being in control of the LOD would help greatly.

Why is the grass always generated ? Cant the system load it ? I've turned all the options on (even load all maps at start) but still draws the grass when I move.

Don't need to ask about having a good computer or not. I do have a good computer and should handle that and more. Is there any config file where u can put that all on ?

Thanks.

Actally, for me, I'm happy for my new comp, but...
