Title: Security warning for those who used the IRC channels this weekend.

This is an urgent warning.

The hosting servers for Freenode were hacked this weekend, by someone calling themselves Ratbert.

According to this article (http://tgmandry.blogspot.com/2006/06/worlds-largest-foss-irc-network.html), everyone who logged in while the attack was under way, is at risk of having had their passwords stolen.

All who used the IRC channels this weekend are advised to change all passwords that they used on IRC, and if they also used those passwords elswhere, those should also be changed.

Attack happened around 6:00 - 9:00 GMT I think. As long as you didn't log in then you should be safe enough.

That's what they get for using dumb plain text password sending. And btw, you don't have to worry about the big bad monster in another country stealing your password when you send it in plain text over your network that can be spoofed by a 5 year old.
