Let's face the fact that once you can mine gold, you're swimming in it :devil:. 250 trias for only 1 lump of gold ore, and it takes about 5 seconds to get one, so... 60/5=12; 12 x 30 = 360; 360 x 250 =90000 trias every 30 minutes from mining gold ore! :o
180000 trias an hour!!! ;D

your times are a bit off, maybe at highler levels of mining skill that can be the case, but certainly at the lower levels, it takes quite a greater time than just 5 seconds on average to get one.

Shortswords are better than any other weapon because thy're fast and you can accualy score a hit on your enemies. ::|
other weapons are to slow and you could be dead by the time you can hit them. :-[
That means don't spend your trias on other weapons! :devil: Instead get some armor or some glyphs or some poitons that are accualy worth it! :woot:

Healing potions are a waste! once I bought 123 of em and they were just disappering while my enemy wasn't even getting hurt! :o
These are a total WASTE! DON'T BUY THEM!!! :ban:

1: Raw materials prices are off now and won't last long. Besides this, your calculations are off too.
2: Short swords are NOT the best swords, there is more to a sword than speed and slash. If you would have played for a bit you would have noticed that swords give you a certain ammount of defense. Considering all factors long swords are the best. And they look good too ;)
3: To kill rats, you don't need potions, you just eat the rat and your HP are up again :p But try saying that pots are useless when you fight an ulber ;)
4: Info like "what is better and what not" should be discussed ingame.
5: What's with the :ban: sign? O_o

Aaaanyways, potions are very useful if you are fighting a creature that is near your level (using the term loosely so don't get all skill based system on me)

I suppose it's a sign that due to the comparatively high number of threads / posts with comparatively little content, a ban may rightfully be approaching. Maybe it also was some sort of "please ban me!" request?

Is there a really great difference in defence between Longswords and Daggers?

Before light armor was introduced the only way to bring up your defense was to train your sword. Back then i liked Sabres.. i still do, so i train daggers and swords..

I think he meant ban healing potions as in boycotting them. Since NPCs sell healing potions, it's really no use boycotting potions. Personally, I prefer food. It's cheaper and easier to find.

And back to the original topic, mining is an easy way to gain xp and trias in a relatively short time. But the calculations are off. Last I checked, it was 240 trias per gold ore, and it does not take 5 seconds to get one. Even if you do know where the special spots are, eventually your mental stamina will run out, and you'll have to wait until that's back to 100% to start all over again. Maybe with a fast computer mining does take 5 seconds to get the result from "you start digging" to "you were not successful" or "you ahve found gold ore," but with mine it takes at least 15 seconds. Then there's the problem of hauling it to either Hydlaa or Ojaveda to sell (and train skills related to mining), which I think takes longer than usually because your endurance is lower since ore is heavy. (Not sure on this one, will have to check in future.) Also, I find that if two people are mining in the same special spot where there is ore, the chances of finding gold ore goes down. One last thing that's not so good about constantly mining: it's the equivalent of powerleveling.

I thought that CulixCupric added that and the first thought was that he/she wants to ban the potions.
Not everything that starts with "pot" needs to be banned ^_^
Oh, and swords do add to defense. And you aren't playing for "more" than a year Avarus :P

hmm well atm I would have to agree that shorts are better then longswords. definately in duels anyhow. Speed is everything when you can kill people with one hit or double hit. Doesn't really matter how much you hit for if you are dead before you get the chance. That is why daggers are still popular in duels aswell. The idea to kill someone before they even get the chance to hit back is pretty appealing.

since this started to be about mining, mining platinum is far more worth it than gold

I started playing in March previous year I believe. Only I had to recreate my char after the wipe in August...
