Indirect rendering may indicate a flawed OpenGL setup if you run on a local
X server.
planeshift.application.client:

0.99 r0 [Unix-x86-GCC]
<src/client/sound/pssoundmngr.cpp:226> Setup:
Couldn't find iSoundRender!
I've downloaded and installed the ati driver dozens of times but i cannot find how to configure it for direct rendering.
Anyone knows?
Thanks,

It seems that the sound is the problem, not the graphics.
Try running with sound disabled.
-
but just to double check open a terminal or konsole and enter this command:
glxinfo | grep direct
if you see this output: direct rendering: Yes
then the problem is not your video system. If it is we've another problem to overcome first :D

ATI doesn't have a good reputation for drivers...
But! They had just release new ones a few days ago that are actually quite good. (well.. better than the usual releases)
That would be version 8.26.18
If thats the version you have and their not working.. go get youself a nice copy of the open source versions called flgrx
If you on Ku/Ubuntu.. then it should be no problem..
Just follow the commands here:
Dapper: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/ATI#head-5ead174a0b3294527486cd4d71ded66b40003f25
Breesey: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/ATI#head-b54fa0658461482e9306aad82820d66c1c4eb044
If your on a different distro, dont use those, go get them manually.
[EDIT: After looking at your error.. thats a sound problem.. you wont need these drivers. To me , it looks like either yuor missing some PS files.. or you nees to reinstall the sound renderer package]
Good luck
Also.. check out the irc channel for your ditro.. many helpful people in there.
