That is an awesome idea.  So you\'ll be able to have nice evil looking banners flying from your fortress atop some hill eh, Aelya?

I really don\'t have any knowledge of that sort of thing but it doesn\'t seem that it would be that hard to upload your banners to the server as long as you keep the maximum size down.

Indeed! That would be quite a showing.

There should be a perks system for people who donate money or equipment to the team, and this could be one of the perks, it would be to hard to just give everyone in game their own logos, and they need some way to make some money for servers and stuff.

Ah, taking an idea from a great game, Lineage. I believe you were allowed to have a little guild logo by your name after your guild reachest a certain number in fame, or just a number of members.
Some were really cool, but resolution was poor, and well, it was difficult to see at times.
Good idea never the less. :D

It should be set so that when you see someone with a guild banner by their name, the image is stored as a temporary file on your hard-drive. That way, you wouldnt have to download the image from the server everytime you see someone from that guild.

BTW, if you look back a bit, there is already a thread exactly like this.

\"It should be set so that when you see someone with a guild banner by their name\" ....... Well the way I like it is that no Guild banner is shown on the name at all. Instead, like the poster said, the guild banner symbol could be submited to the team and then given to those that join the guild as a shield banner, a symbol on their cloak, or even an emblim on their breast plate. Not to mention it would fly on their guild house as well and be engraved into the wood of the interior of the guild house.

Yeah, Kendaro, I agree with you, I just said that because it\'s all i\'ve seen in other games.

But i do like your idea a lot better.

You got my idea just right i want to have my guild symbol on flags shields capes......they could make it have to be a set size and amount of colors
..........
My new guild i am starting (when the game is more playable) would love to have our own symbol even if you make it so you have to pay a little something to get your guild symbol i would pay and i know a lot of other people would too

A word of advice...START NOW! If you start your guild now, you will likely have a head start when the game is more \"playable\". Just a suggestion.

Aelya has a good point.  A guild started now with a good foundation has a good chance ot being around a year or two from now.

Actually it\'s probably just the same if he starts it later, because I bet 9/10ths of the people will have left...just depends on what your willing to put up with

adding your own guild banner would make your guild stand out and really help get new players to join you. But i think it should cost a lot to get your banner added because team members would have to add it into the game manually. But once its added then you should be able to make as many banners as you want and all guild members should be able to use it. Make a data base of all guild banners and once its in then anyone in the guild could use it.

Perhaps it would be useful if Planeshift had an updater, like so many other MMORPG\'s. Then, amongst other updates, once every week or two, the PS people could load up submitted guild logos. Just the updater in and of itself would be an extremely useful thing in between big update/releases. But maybe it would only be practical to have it when the final version is released.

There is already a client updater being worked on (I don\'t know if it will be ready for MB).  The problem with custom textures is the fact that everyone must download them.  If you don\'t play for a while, have a 56K modem, and a bunch of guilds register logos, then you could be updating for quite a while.   If there are guild logos, then there should be a steep requirement to gain that ability to limit the number of logos and subsequent updates.  A certain level of members, experience (total skill points), wealth, property (ie do they have a guild house), etc.

Well, there should be requirements, like so many people in the guild, and of course a place of location, also it should be a certain size, like the size of a normal sig (not the normal sig here but in other boards they are usually a decent small size. :D) that way they could be put on plaques over door ways and also on flag type things, and possibly a 2nd square one allowed so that you can put it in a swinging sign type thing that hangs out into the walk way, and also in equipment and clothes.  Im sure there wouldnt be too many guilds or too many sigs either, and they wont be too big I dont think, there could always be a file size limit also.

LOL, Is it possible to run the game on a 56k modem? I don\'t think so. :D
There should be a system for guild-banners, I think that a guild should have to meet some requirements to be able to upload banners.

*Your guild must have at least 10 members.
*Your guild must have existed for at least a year.
*Your guild must have done a certain quest.
*All the members of your guild must have reached lvl 10 in any skill.
*Your guild gotta have a castle (not sure about this ;) )
*The Devs or GMs must accept your guild.

Sounds like good requirements... but when yuo send in, you should have to send in wher yuo want your logo or insignia to apper on yuor guild members armours and cloaks and the such.

Just another radom thought: How about guild leveling?  Depending on the requirements you meet (time, members, etc... as mentioned above), types of people in the guild (skill-wise... mages, fighters, thieves, etc.), and guild quests completes, your guild could get a succesive title of sorts (Clan, Grand Coven, Band of Thieves, etc.).  I doubt any other benefits could be attached to this (for balance), but the \"bragging rights\" would be a nice incentive.

I like this idea a lot, kin.

We had talked about \"guild points\" of some sort, and maybe this is a way to put those to use.  Then only certain levels would be able to have their own custom logo, for example.

Let\'s discuss with Paxx and Talad when we get a chance.

Thats great.....

It would be really cool to see the power guilds with there own banners and what not. Plus it would add more of a really life feel to the game...

The only problem with membership requirements for distributing guild symbols would be that the shady guilds of few people that control a lot, as well as the secret cults that incorporate only the highest class of people would be misrepresented.  You know the kind I speak of.

it could be represented by the average strength of the clan together, clans could be ranked by how many guild wars they win/ how many arena battles its members have won/ how much money they have, once they get enough points they get special privelages.
