is it worth buying? (what are the good things and the bad things?)

ah, that was a good movie. in my oppinion, very good fight scenes. I really don't want to get too detailed, or I might spoil some things.
-
hmm ...."laith"... :/
the music is brilliant.

I watched it on my cable box this morning. In-demand is such a cool idea. :D
It was a good story, although it did move a bit quickly. There was almost no build up, and made a very steep climax. I myself enjoy movies that have a very long buildup, because the pay off at the end just seems that much more spectacular. But, it's the Final Fantasy style I realize, and it was still an enjoyable movie non the less.
The graphics and directing were... spectacular. That's all I can really say. The animation, the detail and the attention to shading and symbolism was just fantastic. The whole time, I could easily forget I was watching something generated by a computer. It all went down like cherry wine. :)
The fight scenes, what can I say about them? Perfect as always, once you look past the physical limitations each player seems to break every five seconds. A physics professor would tear his hair out in frustration watching those fight scenes. But, it's an action movie. A japanese one at that. Even bruce lee screwed his physics up when you take a careful look, so all is forgiven. The giant leap Cloud takes about 3/4ths of the way in the movie to destroy Bahamut Sin was still pretty cool, despite the imagination needed to make all that happen. Final word: Don't go back to school in August telling your teacher that flight would all be possible if we all just jumped off steel girders and relayed someone up like acrobats.
The weapons were well designed too. There were lots of cool weapons in the movie that were focused on much more accurately than the game depicted. Kudos to the designers of Barret's gun.
American wise, the voices were good. Cheesy, yes. Over played, yes. Something I would expect from a highschool drama production, absolutely. Emotionally moving? Yeah, pretty much. It wasn't too bad. It just left a soapy aftertaste, that's all. That's a bane of all dramatic japanese production though, at least in my opinion. (Please don't send me mail on this :'()
The music as Drey pointed out was also very fitting. It made my nipples harden like saphires.
:whistling:
That's all. Watch the movie. It's good.

ok thanks everyone i think ill give it a try :D *tells teacher that flight is possible* X-D joking and i expected the voices to be cheesy they are ALWAYS cheezy if its something from japan :-\ take naruto he sounds like a girl

I have a subtitled version.

It was good. My rule of thumb with anything Japanese is to watch in the original language with subtitles. The english language tracks always sound stupid. I had a few issues with the build up / climax. This could have been better. Also, Cloud looked more like Shuyin (SP) from X2 than Cloud.
Hands down, the best part was when the victory music played after Tifa beat that guy up. Then what happened afterward.

HA! I totally forgot about that. It was hilarious.
I do enjoy subtitles when I can get them, they help me pay attention and catch the storyline a bit better. However, my cable in-demand service doesn't allow those kinds of options. If they figure out how to make that available, it'd be perfect.

hmm i dont wanna break the law but i may as well download it :P since im too cheap to get an export from japan -.-
-
the region 1 version has jap subtitles that you can change to (normally under the options when you pop in the dvd)

Loved the movie when I saw the original Japanese version!
The English version is much easier to understand (better translations), but I was thoroughly disappointed with the voice-acting. I cannot believe they turned Barret into "Mr. T", and Cait Sith suddenly took on the most ridiculous Scottish accent I have ever heard. :'(

Well I didn't want to give anything away to those who haven't seen the movie. However, I suppose anyone reading this far into the thread will have already seen the movie, or at least have had a general idea about the premise of the film.
What I meant to say, is that the film stays on one level for a very long time. For an hour, the whole movie was just Cloud chasing the Jenova kin around. Then when Sephiroth was finally produced, it happened so abruptly and ended so quickly that it seemed anti-climactic. It was like... "Boom here's Sephiroth! OMNISLASH! *Cue level music* The end."
I dunno, I just didn't like that part. The whole movie was great, and then they said some cheesy badly translated poetry from Sephiroth and ended with an Omnislash. It just could have been done better, that's all I'm saying.

I saw the movie on PSP and it was pretty good and I dont even like FF (that much)
