I can use only a very restricted amount of bandwidth per month, so I can't download the PlaneShift client atm. I know it takes a little while to make the update the updater, but when will I be able to update from version 0.3.014 to 0.3.015 with the updater?
I hope that is very soon (I got told it will be in 3 weeks ...)
-
The update servers should be updated within a few days after the new package is released. Because of the new maps and new textures format you'll need to download pretty much the full set of art, so there really won't be much of a bandwidth savings using the updater.

@ Josellis
You wouldn't happen to use the Linux client would you? My bandwidth is pretty small to (I'm saving it though, so should be ok), but if you do, since you live locally, I wouldn't mind mailing a CD with the updated version on it to you if your bandwidth is really that bad. Offers open to anyone in australia who uses the linux client, and has restrictive bandwidth, btw. ;)

Are there really that many crappy ISPs out there? It's only a couple hundred meg.

In Australia: Absolutely. :(
-
That stinks. I've had months where I download 5-6 gigs. More once, but that's a torrent story for later ^^.
Anyway, switch your ISP! :O Road runner FTW \o/

Ditto for New Zealand. No providers I know of with unlimited international bandwidth (and few with unlimited national). Comes from living on a island on the other side of the world...

If only I could... :( ADSL is only just starting to become prominent (And they put a limit, of like 4Km from the exchange, with 1.5Mb sped cap. Is that the same in the rest of the world?), Telstra has been suppressing ADSL 2/2+ for the last 3 years, and they say they will only implement it if they can have an absolute monopoly over it. I can't even get DSL where I am (even though I'm only 2.5Km from the exchange, they say I'm too far away). The only method of broadband available to me (and only just), is unwired Wireless internet. I've got basic 256/64 Kbit/s, which is throttled after 2Gb. :'( If I were to upgrade to 12Gb usage, the price doubles, and I can't afford that. And another thing, Unwired recived a huge grant from intel last year to roll out Wi-max. I don't even see any wisper of plans to do this in the near future. To top it off, the fastest available broad band in Australia, which is ADSL 2+ (23Mbit/s), and cable (10Mbit/s ...I think), have pretty low download useage, so I can't even dream of living somewhere else with dream broad band. :(
... anyway :offtopic:
Yes. I don't mind sending CD's to local's. The postage, cd, etc is negligible cost. :)
-
I have unlimited ADSL from iprimus (its actually 12gig limit but their capp program doesnt work, lol) only costs about $50 a month. Internet isn't crap in Aus or NZ, its just expensive if u want anything good.
-
I'm not THAT restricted, if I don't have the choice, I'll download it, I guess that it won't be 300 megs to download with the updater? I have a limited bandwidth, and if I can acoid using it, I do it. But if I can't well too bad and I'll download the whole file.
What was also annying me is that I have a download speed of MAXIMUM 26K/s, even if I have 512K ADSL ... Telstra (the main "official" company) is even trying to save bandwidth! And they are the ISP!!!!
That's why as soon as the internet VIA the eletric plug is available, I buy it, cause it will be much quicker and MUCH less restrction for a "minimal cost" (like they said on the program)
Also, I use Windows XP ... so you can't send it to me, but it would be good if I had linux of if you have windows, cause I also don't live far away (În a small town near Albury/Wodonga)

...but it would be good if I had linux [or] if you have windows, cause I also don't live far away (În a small town near Albury/Wodonga)
Oh, I think I know where wodonga is. We go past it to... canberra... or was it the coast... WAIT! I remember. Thats where my aunti used to live. Anyway, how literally do you want me to take "it would be good if I had linux"? I've got a few CD's laying around. ;D
(sorry for the off-topicness. ...is it too off topic?)

I live in Sydney with unlimited 256k adsl from TPG, got it a year ago or something and the plan is no longer for sale but they have kept us with unlimited downloads anyway ;D
I also use Windows XP, so I could mail it to you on CD :)
-
mavrik, you sure can send it me in by mail :)
It would be really great. I'm gonna send you a PM with my details.

whats the point of a forum then if we cant have a conversation?
-
Never said you couldn't. But it depends on the conversation. Two individuals going back and forth specifically directing thier entire post to the other is not what I call forum appropriate conversation. A forum conversation is a topic that many people can get involved in and post in and comment on. If you're going to specifically direct your post to just one indivual, might as well just use a PM.
As example: mavrik, you sure can send it me in by mail :)

This could have easily been sent in a PM. No one else can really add anything to that post, it is purely directed toward one person. The only value of posting it openly, is now everyone can see that he might get a copy of the PS client by mail instead. What else can anyone reply to that? Not much really. Other than, "erm, that's nice."
-
Forums have rules and guidelines about the types of conversations that you may have. If a thread draws out beyond usefulness, it is usually closed if people persist in posting idle chatter with no meaningful contributions. If several individuals make posts that have nothing to do with anything, much less the original subject of the thread, the posts may end up being removed. We do try to be lenient and let people post as much as they want, but there is a limit, as can be seen by the "Update is coming" thread, for example.
-
Sorry, about that ... Its real I should've sent a PM.
I guess that the post I am writing atm I should send in a PM, cause I am answering neko kyouran's post. And we can't answer to my post by anything else then "yeh, YOU should've" but of course, because it is addressing to me, that person should send it in a PM
anyway, this is getting :offtopic: so let's go back to what we were talking about :)
-
because it is addressing to me, that person should send it in a PM
It wasn't. I may have used some of your posts as example, but that doesn't mean it was directed toward you specifically. It was actually directed toward everyone. Now the reason why this post isn't in a PM, is becuase your comment was made publicly, and as such I have the right to defend myself publically.
And this really isn't off topic either. The original topic was resolved, and the thread evoled into this discussion. That sort of thing happens all the time. Hope this clarifies things a bit.
