If you are downloading this ..... 3.014b then you are not downloading the correct one. We are waiting for 3.015. There will be an annoucement I am sure by someone when it is ready. In the mean time....relax.

As mentioned before, click the link in the first post of this thread. If you do NOT have a bittorrent client installed then it will not work. You will then have to wait until the main download page has been updated... link in post up the page..

This is my first post, not my first time here at the PS site however. I've been keeping track of the progress on this game for allmost 4 years now. I was playing Everquest when I first found this game, back then all we could do was collect crystals :)
Anyway, I was curious, once I've got the client downloaded. Should I uninstall the PS client that I allready installed. Or will the new client install over the previous client with no problems?

Nah its the way the client flows trafic. I have been able to get full 5MB transfers, but with my torrents the max i have ever gotten is 250KB. and that was only for a second or 2.

Mine download rate is about 40-50 kb/s on Azureus.
I'm also seeding at 50-60 kbs for all you out there :d

BTW, delthroth, maybe i'm the one connected to you... It seems theres a one peer at about 29% that im uploading 100kb/s here.

For people with a slower connection, set your upload max to a lower number at first.. then you'll get slightly better d/l speeds. Then, when you're done, set it to unlimited U/L... broadband doesn't really need to worry though....
Edit: This will work properly without updating (as the top sticky advises) correct?

For some reason, my speed slowed down, maybe cause of seeds and where i was at on Percentage.

Than it WAS me. I am at 77.8% and cant seed to you anymore since were at the same point. I just realized I stopped seeding to that peer anymore.

Im using a really old bittorent client, wit one cool feature, Reannounce, Currently downloading from 15 peers for a total of 20KB/s and uploading to 15 peers at about the same rate. Both in and out start to trickle down after a bout 5 minutes and I get speeds like 2.0.. 1.0 ...0.7 ... ect Click reannounce and bam! back up to 20k each way for a while, likely gaining some new peers and losing some old ones. You may be able to get a stalled download kick started by pausing your download, wait a few seconds and un pause it. That may trigger another re-announce if you dont have that feature.

Most haven't finished it, thats why its extremely fast at first, but slows down as you get closer to finishing. Once more people finish it the download rate will be faster.

If you have Windows firewall on, turn it off. It always messes with my Bit Torrent and slows it down.

yeah, thats fine. The important part is that you uninstall planeshift before you install the new release. Whether it is installed allready when you download the new release doesn't matter.

btw, can anyone tell me exactly what a hashfail is? i have two
A hash fail is a "piece" (approximately 512kb, or 1MB in this case I'd say), wish is the size of the data chunks that you recive. If a hash fails on a piece, it means it's corrupt, and the bittorrent client discards the data, and redownloades it. It's a cleaver setup to prevent you downloading the entire file and then find it's corrupt. ;D
A couple of fails is to be expected, and is nothing to worry about. only once you start getting in excess or 50 or so peices do you need to worry.

and my download rate has gone up some :)

just finished downloading, and I'm keeping Azureus on for seeding. My upload rate varies a lot though, from 1 byte to 30 kps.
New content is awesome, except that I'm lost already, and got kicked off the server.

I only noticed this morning... In the office the :@#\ firewall blocks the ports for planeshift, and I can't afford to bribe our NetSecs :'(
Well anyway... I started the torrent at home, and it was 50% done after 10 minutes only. It will go on seeding the whole day... except I may have to call HR and tell'em I am feeling not too well and will have to stay at home for a couple of days :devil:

just seein those screenshots makes me wish i was home with high speed internet and not on vacation, also with my windows desktop and not on my mac (don't get me wrong i like my mac, but sometimes the fact that windows is game devs priority it seems like )

Yes the linux version would be sweet
If You are impatient, do as I usually do - compile client yourself, download Windows version, install it using Wine (http://www.winehq.org), then move/copy/link "art" and "data" to directory containing Linux version. Or run Windows client with Wine directly, it should work well enough (previous versions did).

Because, we got the link from soemone who was watching it like a hawk. The dev's have put something on the main page, we all just got the d/l before they could.
Does that mean it's safe to run the updater now as well? I remember DaveG saying not too...
Edit: So i learned to read. It's NOT READY YET! Install, but don't update!
