http://www.fraps.com/
And you'll need a video editing program, like Adobe Premiere

If you have Windows you should've Windows Movier Maker, it's free and pretty good too.

I remember there was a group of people who wanted to form an artisan/theater guild that would preform in-game plays they would write themselves. I don't remember what happened to that idea though.
I think if you would combine these two ideas and actually record what happened in the (street) theater in the PlaneShift world itself, you would get something quite original ...plus, I think that all who wouldn't catch the performance would be very glad to see it at least OOC.

There is actually a plugin available for the Crystal Space engine that can do movies ( well it could, I haven't tried in a while ). The down side is that it a) Made the application run very slow b) Saved it is some strange file format that needed to be converted c) Took up a LOT of diskspace. fraps is pretty common from what I hear so that might be a good first try anyways.

-> "Webcam feature" thread (http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=23577.msg258996#msg258996) may be helpful. Movie recorder plugin for CS was fixed recently, but the fix is not in the new (binary) version of PS yet.

- Philip Wyett fixed eliminated error when using 'alt-r' to start
recording a movie with the movie recorder plugin. Plugin was
starting and stopping and only recording one frame.

That video was great!
If I had enough free time, not to mention the proper equimpent, I'd defintiely be doing that sort of stuff in my free time. Hmm...a Yliakum traveling theater troupe...
