Ok, now dont say I didnt want ya, but there are few spoilers in here.
I am listing the most amazing things I have discovered since the update:
The first will be most amazing, the last will be not-so amazing
1. After you explore Ojaroad for a LOOOONG time, you will come to a loading screen, and will see a land with a revamped texturte. New trees, ground, etc. You will see a... GIANT WATERFALL COMING FROM A GIANT CLIFF-ROCK MOUNTAIN!!! There will be a small road to the top, with somethings that look like houses on the road. I haven't gone to the top, as I fell and died and now am stuck in DR, trying to get out cause of the crashes.
2. The new ojaroads.
3. The pond and river.
4. Ive also discovered the Lag.
5. The DR crashes. XD :whistling:
-
You were not on Oja Road. You were on BD Road, which goes in the opposite direction from Hydlaa. Go out Hydlaa's east gate to get to the new Oja Road.
-
I've also noticed a quaint little campfire. Anyone up for s'mores and storytime?
-
I found an abandoned mining town, complete with a mine ;D

I am still looking for that town.
I found a circle of rogues hanging out together and a pit of ulbers in a mountian. I also found two hiding spots to hide in. One is in a huge pile of rocks, and another is a small room in the cavern.

Ah, I wonder if that's the town that one of the guards in East Hydlaa said he came from?

perhaps, it's a nice town, you can see it much better from higher up *NUGDE NUDGE WINK WINK* ;D
I also found a relocated grok idon, and some more ruins.
Where exactly is the yilakumian border? I'm almost certain some of the game is beyond it now.
-
Yliakum border? Yliakum is almost the whole world. Did you mean Hydlaa?

Hopefully Grok's improved his wares with the new location...I'm tired of seeing nothing but sabres and puny potions.

Yilakum is only the large stalagtite. Since the bronze doors take you outside that, I thought either when you enter the large crack or when you go beyond the building there you exit yilakum.
-
Hm..
The Bronze Doors, located along the perimeter of the first level, access the Stone Labyrinths, a complex of both natural and artificial caves as ancient as the town itself. It is sure that some of them lead to places similar to Yliakum and even to the surface, but nobody ever came back to report such a discovery. The Stone Labyrinths are one of the sources of food and resources for the city.
We don't have the Bronze Doors yet, but a military fortress that guards the passageway to the rest of the world from Labyrinth invasions. So we haven't reached a perimeter yet because we don't have the BD fully in the game, but we're close, while still being fully within the Yliakum border.
-
Just wondering what the lookout points there are doing seeing it looks like it's build to lookout into Yliakum instead of for forces coming from the other side ;)
-
I have been sort of hoping that the entire 8 levels of the inside of the Stalactite would be rendered and explorable first, so that the existing races would each have their own 'home' areas. As according to the History of Yliakum.
Then maybe the Stone Labyrinths becoming partially explorable perhaps by the mechanism of an expanded Quests System or even as part of a true in-game Role Play environment.
Then maybe the areas beyond the Bronze Doors...
Then even out onto the surface of the planet - with the 'finished' game then available on DVD or equivalent storage media
Finally, then a series of expansion packs - themed on perhaps all the Epochs and history so you can create characters living in places where the races [other than Lemurs and Krans] were at before they were brought to Yliakum by Vodul....
....Tee-Hee, this dreaming is maybe setting me up on a collision course with bitter disappointment! :'(
But, Hey! - dreams are free.... and this -what we have- is just so amazing! :)
Thanks, PlaneShift Development Team and everyone else involved! \\o//

You don't understand this game at all do you? it will never be on any physical media device.

It was a light-hearted post made in jest :) I doubt very much that Djinn was serious.
-
Thats not true at all. In fact it's already on media. I got an old copy of MB laying around my house on cd somewhere, and quite a few backups of CB releases on dvds as well. (Backups are key. )
If you are referring to offical copies of the game released on DVD/CDs then its a maybe. As the game progresses, I see something that linux distros have been doling for years now. That is, one large download off the website, or for a small fee, you can order yourself a dvd/Cd in the mail from the website, for those unfortunates that don't have a faster speed connection to the internet. Granted as the size of the client is barely over 210 meg, this shipping a cd/DVD option really isn't feasible nor would most people even consider it, but to say that it would never happen is quite a far stretch. No one can predict what is certain for the future, thats why its thefuture afterall. Not trying to be mean sesmi, but I've had to correct your words many of times after you post. Perhaps before posting you can think a little more about your chioce of words before you push the reply button next time?

/me drools in jealousy and anticipation at the spoilers.
I can't wait for the Mac update!!!!

His post sounded a bit like he thought the finished game would be realesed commercialy in stores or something... could be wrong....

Yes, I was being a little in jest, but more by way of musing and dreaming about the future possibilities as I'd thought of them as being.
-thankyou for your subtle gesture in my defense, Karyuu :flowers:
That is certainly interesting information you provide too, in your post Neko... I had a vague idea at the time I made my previous post to this thread, that I had seen some much earlier posts concerning whether or not there might someday be releases of PlaneShift on CD-ROM or other solid storage media.
Perhaps I ought to have used the Search Button to find such instances of previous posts on this matter to lay in support of my musings.
-
I'm not able to find Hydlaa, but I found a cool trench filled with a bunch of items....if these are owned by someone and they want them back, contact Erotate...
-
i found one too, guarded by rogues.. and since then i have many many healing poitons ;-) loke 150 or so
-
wow. I just jumped off the eagle's head at the Bronze Doors. Got some awesome screenies while I was waiting to hit the ground. :D
Only the thing is I must have hit the rocks so hard that I got stuck in the ground. Had to /die. But it just shows you that you don't even need a parachute to go base-jumping. :woot:
-
Lol, yeah the eagle head is cool.... also, i realized its not the waterfall that you look at that makes you lag, since when I was at the water wheel, it wasnt lagging. It was lagging when I looked at the cliffs you see from the Eagle Head.
-
Actually it is the wheel that makes you lag, bug.
-

Actually it is the wheel that makes you lag, bug.
is it just me or does this not make sense?
-
I would think that lag would be most when looking out over the large area. More area to render = longer time to render it. But what do I know.
-

is it just me or does this not make sense?
no, it doesn't :sweatdrop:
-
Allow me to translat for those that don't understand it:
"Actually, its the big wheel that makes you lag, becuase there is a bug with it."
-
Yeah, I was a bit too short maybe
There was bug with the wheel that makes you lag or crash.
Why you would lag even more when looking from the eagle head is just because the area is so huge.
The bug is fixed in CS by the way(PS's 3D engine), but I don't know when it will be available for users.
-
Wierd... When i look at the waterfall from a distance, it lags, but when I'm right in front of the waterwheel, no lag at all.
-
I've also noticed a quaint little campfire. Anyone up for s'mores and storytime?
Sounds interesting. We could set up a camp there, and tell stories about the discovery of Yliakum, what lurks beyond the Bronze Doors, where they might lead to... And maybe ghost stories. Hehe.
As for s'mores, I'll pass. Chocolate is one of those things I simply cannot stand. I'll just roast marshmellows.
-
I found a large stone with a face carved into it its a fantastic peice, Is this an alter to one of the gods? I left a few sacrificial pies in the mouth just incase the gods wish to bless me...... \\o//
-
The stoneface is a garbage chute :P

Some blessing eh?
