Your character is stored on the server and not on your local PC. As long as you know your e-mail address and password, you can re-install the game or use your friend's computer and still have the same character.

How to retrive pasword....is that possible?  :sweatdrop:

Go to http://laanx.fragnetics.com/register/ and click "Forgot my password".

You can also save the file planeshift.cfg before uninstalling Planeshift. Password is stored there in encrypted form (on the condition you checked option "remember password" on login screen), so after reinstallation you must only restore lines starting with:

Planeshift.Connection.User
Planeshift.Connection.Password

Or just put your saved planeshift.cfg in new PS directory if You are lazy ;)

Ok, how did you manage to try to spell character with a 'G' in it?...  >.<

Read this sticky (http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=24125.0) for a list of what to backup.  Obviously you can't lose your whole character... it'd be insane to store MMO stuff like that on clients.  Any idiot could edit and cheat.
