Title: Bring back autowalk
Post by: VMann on July 10, 2006, 09:56:07 pm
With version 0.3.015, we gained the possibility to use autorun. Unfortunally, we also lost the possibility to use autowalk, and i would like to have it back. I don't mean that autorun is a bad thing, but there are some advantages in autowalk, so i would like to be able to choose what to use.

Advantages:
- You can cast spells while using autowalk
- You can write while and walk at the same time. Yes, you can also do that while using autorun, but i think autowalk is often better when you just want to go somewhere with someone and chat with that person at the same time for two reasons:
1) Running everywhere is not very RP-like
2)If two (or more) people want to go somewhere (and use autowalk so they can chat while moving), and because of connection issues move with different speed, it is much easier for the person behind to catch up because he can then run a little bit and start autowalk again. But if both run, and one is slower, he will have to wait until the other one stops or the connection lets him catch up.

I hope it won't be too much of a problem to bring autowalk back, it sounds like a copy and paste work for me.

Shift+R

Not sure if it works in the current released client, but it does in the latest CVS version.

Shift+R does work in this release, I have used it several times.

The way I have it setup, if you're in autorun and press what you have set to run, you'll swtich to autowalk.  (you can hold run to run during it too, if you like)  If you want autorun back, turn autorun off/on again.  I might want to make the run button toggle this, or something, in the future.  (note that shift+R has the same effect, because you're pressing the autorun and run buttons at the same time)

Oh, thank you for telling me how to use autowalk now.....
There was no explanation on that before, was there? Because then I would not have any excuse left for making this thread  :sweatdrop:
