Yes I was one of the many idiots who ran the updater... Okay, so I uninstalled the game, and tried to reinstall it since the patch apparently wasn't helping. But now I can't insatll the game.... Any suggestions or ideas?
-
Does it give you an error or message why you can't install?
Have you tried to do a reboot after you uninstalled, before you attempted to reinstall. There could be a running process in the background that is preventing you to install the game.
-
Did u delete the whole directory (planeshift crystal blue folder) it doesnt reinstll properly unless u do this (happened to me anyways)
-
I'll try rebooting, oh and why im doing that could someone tell me if there is a spesific spot I should save the zip file patch to in my ps folder?
((And no I didn't I tried deleting the folder but it says I can't))
-
Reboot it
if it says u cant its cos uve tried to run the game since u booted and then u still hav it running (somehow just happens)
once u reboot delete then reinstall. then get the patch cos u need that to play but it drops out every minute.
just unzip the file st8 into the Ps directory. it might look like its just deleting the files (did on mine) but it works anyways.
-
Okay, i got some good news, after rebooting the old file delted and im reinstalling the game...
Now wont I have to update the game still with my updater?
And is the ps directory in the ps folder?
-
DO NOT USE THE UPDATER.
go to the top fo the forums and there is a post by talad about updated client or sumthing. download the patch and extract into ur PS folder.
Ps folder is he folder called Planeshift crystal blue (i think its called that) anyways on windows its in c:/programs
-
Okay, so I wont use the updater, the patch will update me as need be, correct? ;)
-
Yes it should. if u dont no how its.
You download the patch then you need to extract (unzip) into the planeshift folder in your c/programs folder (if u put it there)
after that u should be able to play the game.
when i tried to extract it just opened the ziped up files so i just copied it into the directory.
This should work.
-
after unzipping the foler in my ps folder I ran planeshift, (I didn't run the updater) but it still says im not running the correct version of planeshift.
-
are u sure the files got into the folder i had to try about 3 times there should be not many files in the ps folder now (about twenty)
-
No, I apparently did something wrong so I uninstalled it again and installed it.... I will now download the patch (again) and try to save it to the oppropreat folder.
(It is the ps folder right? not any one spesific folder in the ps folder correct?)
-
yes
-
dont re download the patch just extract it.
right click the file and open with compressed zip folders.
then if it just opens all the files copy them all.
go to ur ps folder and paste and overwrite all the files then run the game
-
yea that should work
-
Save your patch to any folder EXCEPT the PS directory, then if you need to delete that directory you will still have the patch.......
..... that is assuming you have a whole 5MBs of HDD space to spare ;D
then use WinRAR or WinZip (or your fave) to extract to the PS directory with the overwrite option enabled
-
dont redownload the patch
-
thats a waste of time
-
erm, I see.... i've been redownloading the patch each time I uninstalled, another bad mistake I see...
Anyways, after copying the files over, no luck. should I rebot after pasting all the extracted files?
-
hmmm if u want to be safe reboot ur comp each time u try and stop downloading the patch it will just waste bandwith and ur time
(edit) this is exactly (what i can remeber) what i did to get mine to work.
(this is from having it not installed on ur comp at all)
install the game
download patch
open the patch- right click open with winzip
copy all files.
paste into PS directory
Play game
get booted after 1 minute
-
Hi fellow PSers.
Where do you find this patch everyone is talking about ? I can't seem to find it. Maybe I'm not awaken enough yet ...

Have some coffee :D

-
it doesn't really matter what file you put the patch in as long as it's in the installed Planeshift directory.
-
none of this is helping the zip asks for password severytime i try and im getting really angry so can someone tell me why its asking for passwords
-
If you are being prompted for a password, first make sure that nothing PS-related is running in your processes, and second try extracting the patch files onto another location - another directory, another drive, etc. This seems to have worked for one of the people first to report this problem.
-
hey guys great news, I applyed what karyuu said and now its working! :D
I'd just like to thatnk everyone for helping me out despite my foolish mistakes.
-
Thanks Neko.
Works fine for me \\o// ... when both the server and my connection are OK :-\
