I'm relatively confident that I've read all stickies and FAQ sections and i've hit the search button enough times to feel that i'm not going to find an answer to my questions... Unfortunately the reason I'm not going to find an answer in the archives is most likely because it's simply too simple to be mentioned.
I'm not only brand new to planeshift but im brand new to Macs in general, so I'm simply having trouble installing this at all, I've downloaded the game from mirror 1 for Mac OSx, I've opened the "planeshiftCB_v0.3.1.13.dmg" and had the virtual disk appear on my desktop, from what I can gather I'm now supposed to move the "Planeshift 3D" folder from the virtual disk to the "appropriate folder" unfortunately as a new Mac user, hearing "appropriate folder really holds no meaning for me....
I suppose in the end what im asking for is some sort of guidance on how to install PS onto my mac... my problem is that although im sure all the solutions are in the forums somewhere they're are scattered as most people wont have them all at once, and being new to the OS a lot of the explanations seem vague to me.
If anyone wants to take the time to write out some short even point form directions on how to install the client and update, but maybe go into a little more detail on what needs to be done for macs more than what need to be done for planeshift it would be greatly appreciated and I'm a lot of help to many of new gamers out there
This is'nt so much a problem with the game or with installation as it is with dealing with my own ineptitude.
Thanks

Hi Savaenor,
first of all, the Package you've downloaded is far outdated. sorry. The current Version you need to connect, is 3.015b.
about the appropiate Folder, this could be where ever you like. Normally, this would be the Folder "Applications". Me, i've created a Folder "Games" under "Applications" and put it there. But you can also move it everywhere you like, but some Folder which are maybe not so appropiate are "Library" and "System". Even if it won't hurt at all, this is not a good Place.
So, my suggestion :
Just drag the Planeshift3D Folder from the mounted Image into the Folder "Applications", start the client and then rightclick on the psclient-Icon in the Dock and select "keep in Dock", as you will need it often, once you've got addicted to Planeshift like all the other ones here.
have fun

Use the Java installer (found in the Guide sticky on this forum). It'll get you cutting edge binaries (assuming we keep the update server up to date, which we do...I think. :D

If you have a bittorrent client, that is the preferred way of getting the PS client, and then run the included updater application once you've copied it to your hard drive. Either way, I wouldn't trust any of the mirrors listed on the downloads page :)
