/me is in Aachen with Uyaem/Pogo!
All went well, food is good.. Talad isn't here yet as we are an hour too early... I have muscle ache from carrying my rucksack all around, but that's ok..
Sadly the IRC port isn't allowed here, and we haven't found a html based client, so no IRC :-/
*blubbblubb*
/me gives up the idea of a fan challenge regarding an ajax IRC client..
So, how's it going over there?
PS: pics will be uploaded when we are back home

Good to know that you arrived well, nice greetings to all we know. Just had a short chat yesterday in #crystalspace; I bet Jorrit will enjoy to meet PlaneShift people.
-
Hullo! Good to hear you made it!
Can't wait to see the pics and hear some reports! :woot:
-
Yeah, post lots of pictures!
And ehm, I heard Res2K is going to auction his boxershort, but eh, you didn't get that from me, right? :whistling:
And of course, some streams are available:

Any idea if there's going to be recorings later available for download? A video archive from the conference would be great, for those who missed the live streams :whistling:
-
I'd especially like to see a copy of Luca's Planeshift presentation (tomorrow at 11:00, which I can't tune in for)
Would be a good thing to have around ;)
-
Hmm, I want to see some of Jorrit's presentations, Arianna's presentation and Luca's presentation.
I missed Jorrit's and Arianna's presentations because I had to work today, so I'm hoping for video recordings too. :woot:

Is it over? is it is it? If not....http://www.oyla9.de/cgi-bin/designs/Ernte/index.cgi?page=text&id=72776126&userid=50481058&starteintrag=
IRC there might work??

It isn't over yet ^^
Talad had his presentation before, as Xordan guessed right (he sent a /tell to say hi to the conference) ;-)
What was this gathering on the plaza about. btw?
There should be a lifestream somewhere, don't know where though.
I'm just in a blender2crystal presentation/workshop. It's pretty interesting as I have never used blender before really.
The "sessions" are great :D So much information in a short time..
Luca is a pretty nice guy, joking around all the time ;D He is about the size as I am and maybe even more slim o.o
Arianna and her boyfriend are also very nice, not to mention Pogo *pokes to the side*
Actually all people here are really cool :) it's well organised and the hotel was also OK.. so amazingly I have nothing to complain about except it's really hot here and I'm sweating like a.. sweater..
and my hay fever doesn't do me any favor.
It should be over in a few hours, it's planned to have dinner in the evening and then we will go back. I think Uyaem and I will be back in the night, between midnight and 1 am GMT+1.

What was this gathering on the plaza about. btw?
The gathering in the Plaza at Harnquists was so that as part of the Presentation at the CS Conference Talad could send in a [GM]-type character with a live video feed into the Conference and "interact" with those Citizens of Yliakum who had got the Server Admin Message, and were there.
What a hoot! What a blast! What a lot of Fun that was! \\o//
Watching the live feed on RealPlayer and on your PS Client too: Awesome!
Here are three screenies from Talad's "visit" to Hydlaa:

Ah, I have found the stream \\o// It has about 5 seconds or more delay here ^^
I believe I was in the movie.. was in the first row, right in front. I already considered to take a nap.. but it was too interesting :-/
Now it's getting slightly too much here... with hay fever and the heat (and Luca in my back :sweatdrop:).. I need an icecream and a nap... *moan*
-
I just saw you and Pogo walk in front of the camera \o/ I think :P
-
I missed it - helping some newbies in-game and enjoying some really good RP-ing with some people.
Any news on archived streams from the conference?
-
There was a "Server Admin Announcement" 30 minutes before the presentation should start. No surprise, all the people gathered to show the visitors of the presentation a living world! :D

Okay, we're finally back home. :)
There's still a lot of tech stuff floating in my head and I can only advise you to never attend such a conference unless you are teh evul 3d m4st4, otherwise there's some point where you want to kill yourself.
Not being either a 3d artist nor someone who has worked with CrystalSpace yet, I had a fair idea of how complicated performant graphics processing can be. Lacking the basics (or rather having forgotten them again after only 3 years after my diploma) I still could follow the general ideas or concepts in each of the presentations. So in the end I'm not sure if it wasn't even better to not have an in-depth knowledge of the topics discussed already, because that way I certainly gained some knowledge on a totally different level (we call that "gefährliches Halbwissen", which roughly translates to "dangerous semi-proficient knowledge") - so please ignore me whenever I use the word "Shader" :).
On a totally different subject is was a very pleasant experience to get to know the people behind the nicknames, some of which I knew only briefly, some a bit better, so I finally have a few faces and a better idea of characters and character types to associate again. If or when there's going to be another CrystalSpace conference, I can only recommend it to anyone remotely interested in programming 3D apps or just interested in the techniques that are used to interconnect different tools to achieve or create a 3-dimensional environment on the computer - including art, application and theory of lighting, shader techniques and the likes.

Hi!
I was there at the conference too, as somebody might now!
It has been extremely nice to meet, from the PS world, Kerol, Uyaem, Talad and Jorrit (well, I consider him part of the PS world, somehow ;-) ) and of course, everybody else from the CS world!
The city was amazing, the trip really long, but we had great fun, even if I had some trouble, sometimes, understanding people speaking!
The conference itself was really well organized, there was plenty of food and refreshments, the talks were really interesting and I think that it became a unique occasion for exchanging experiences and sharing knowledge.
I have unfortunately little time now to make a report, following Jorrit's example on the CS site, but I will do it, hopefully asap!
And Planeshift demo was really entertaining. Talad has great charisma and the morphing was extremely funny :-)
Ah, about the archive: I think thebolt is working (and has been working) for the archives. Reading from Jorrit's report (www.crystalspace3d.org) it sounds like everything will be soon available!

On the CS site we are slowly collecting information about the conference. No videos yet but there are pictures and some of the presentations can be downloaded. Check it out here:
