are there any plans on making any deep forrest areas?
just wondering as the forrest part outside hydlaa does look good and deep forrest would be fun to explore and say have many roads leading here and there maybe even some huts or tents really deap in, besides with deep forrests you could play a bandit gang and such jumping on thoes that walk "their territoty" ;)

There's lots of plans for new maps. We don't really need specific ideas in the Wish List.
That being said, I've wanted something like this too. The problem comes down to eventually putting in so many trees that the FPS drops to crap. We might want to wait until CS has some better culling stuffs.

well why not use 1 texture as the background like it is now in the current forrest and only use some treas here and there?
-
That doesn't exactly sound like a "deep forest".

it's a start and when the game gets more powerfull just widen it with more trees so it will look more and more like a real deep forrest
baby steps ;)

We already have baby steps like that - groves of trees in the new wilderness maps.

I remember this topic been discussed into pieces, along with stuff like fractal tree generators and all the pros and cons of it --> prior art

quite a long time ago I played an interesting game. I eventually noticed what was going on but it looked good. When I entered this certain texture the skybox changed so that the horizon was closer and if there had been no trees on the map at the time it would have looked like I was in a prairie of nothing with trees all around me. The skybox had trees drawn onto it. But instead of a prairie there were several trees, but not a large amount. the effect was that I was running throught a deep forest with seemingly no end but infact there were far fewer trees, as it was simply an illusion.

I think the idea of large permeable forests is great. Just recently I went on a 15 mile hike through a large uncharted area of wilderness which was mostly forest with the occassional bog. It was wonderful.
