I did not see this one mentioned, this happened when I was moving from area to other, other are was not visible as sometimes it happens(maybe every 3rd time as an average).
Error message was as follows
Planeshift
Something unexcepted has happened in Planeshift: Crystal Blue
Details: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION at 0041a003
Would you like to save diagnostic file?
Naturally I saved file.
psclient.exe was left running in processes list after that.
Actually I'm bit unsure if this is needed to report at all, but I guess better to report than not?
It works again after closing psclient.exe process and running game normally so not much needed to do with it I guess.
I got some other error messages, some are reported in here sometime around last year, I don't know what to do with those, maybe not worth to post?
Syspecs again
WinXP SP2
Amd Athlon 64 3200+
1GB Ram
Asus Radeon X800 XL
Integrated AC97 audio
Antivirus Avast! Home (guess would include this too as sometimes some AV sw causes trouble, however have got no problems with this)
PS version 015b (Install 015, patch 015b and updater, from fresh install)

While I cannot don't have an answer for this, I can say that I too have been having the same thing. I would also get that message, and I would have to use the task manager to close the client, because I can't see what is going on in the game (if the game is still running). I too save the diagnositcs file, and it also kept running in the process list.

I have the same error. I saved the diagnostic file as well. No PSCLIENT.EXE running anymore.
It happened when was on the ojaroads (not sure which one). I was walking towards what should have been another map, but actually it felt like walking into The Void because i couldn't see anything beyond the map i was on.
Specs:
Athlon64 3400+
1 GB ram
Win XP pro SP2 + all patches
ATI Radeon 9800 pro with drivers that i updated last about a month ago.
PS was completely patched and updater was ran right before i started playing.

I've got excactly the problems as described above.
It sometimes happens, but on various places while switching regions.
My specs:
AMD Athlon XP 2500+
512 MB RAM
Geforce4 Ti Graphics
Windows XP SP2 +all updates
Also all updates for PS of course ;)

I have had that before when I loaded the game itself and after that the game was having some serious problems on my end. I'm not going into detail because I already have.
-
Well I have not got this anymore, I think it did disappear when I made last clean install shortly after reporting this problem. Wild guess is that some older crash has caused some file to be not quite ok and that may be reason, but is really a long shot guess.

Same happened to me, running from ojaroad to ojaveda. After logging back I was moved from the "SectorWhereWeKeepEntitiesResidingInUnloadedMaps".

Happened to me on my way out of the sewers, Percival exit
Cheers

I have same problem, but it happens EVERY SINGLE TIME I try to play. It happens like this: I open the updater and click launch, after loading i manage to login and select my character. Loading begins once again, this time for the map, but once it finishes loading a windows popup comes up, and planeshift closes.
its been like this for a few days already.

Are you sure you are getting the exact same error code?
-
Im pretty sure I am, maybe itll get fixed once the server is back up?
-
I have the same problem too. I get that exception code so often I thought it was a feature. It only occurs when changing maps. Strange thing is, I know when it will happen now. If I can't see normally, beyond where another map is supposed to be, (comming back to town from gold mine), walking into the 'grey' area causes the crash. (Then use task manager to end the process, start game again and its fine). Sometimes though, I get the similar visual effect when going to the gold mine, but it never crashes in that direction. Only going towards the plaza does it.

Well, since the thread was brought back from the dead, I'll confirm this thing too. Something screwy with that area... As for how it happens, my observations were very similar to Thoden's.
