grr!
every time I run the updater, it comes up with a message saying it has encountered a problem and needs to close
can someone help me please? is there some new updater I haveto install or something?
-
Do you have version 0.3.015 of the client, and have you unzipped the patch files into your PS directory?
-
ohh, ok, so do I extract it to just the raw, PlaneShift, Christal blue, wahtever, directory? or in folders within that directory?
-
oh btw its 3.015b :D
-
Just the main PS folder, which is usually C:\Program Files\PlaneShift Crystal Blue
-
well atleast the updater runs now..
PlaneShift Updater: "your updater version is newer than the server's... Server is out of date; Stopping
Ironhead: " X-/ "
me thinks I need more help
-
Did you overwrite all the files that were in your patch .zip successfully? And can you login regardless of the updater message?
-
hmm, I seem to be able to run the game its self just fine tho
-
Me not. I can't play. First time crashed, second one i've reached the login screen, some glitches in the interface, put my account data in then crashed, third time crashed again before login.
-
Can you post your system specs, along with any crash messages that you got, and mention if you have the latest client + patch + updater?
-
I installed the last client version (clean install) then ran the patcher. The program crashed in the patching process, i can't remember the error message now.
Later, after reading the forums, i've downloaded the patch files and put them in PS directory after rebooting pc.
So I've run the pather again. And this is what I got:
"Checking for registry version."
"There are no new updates available."
"Checking for missing/damaged files... this may take a while."
"Your updater version is newer than the server's... Server is out of date; stopping."
Now if i run the game, sometimes i get into the game although there are glitches in a few windows, sometimes i can get only to the login or characters screens and these are in some cases heavily glitched and make client crash ("access violation... 6969CD0A" error message).
As a side note, last time i logged in the game closed itself when I was closing a window (i think it was the help pannel), just logged in again now and it doesn't close itself anymore, tryed every window.
My specs:
OS: WinXP(sp2)
CPU: AMD AthlonXP 1.83GHz
Sys. Memory: 768MB
Graphic Card: GeForce 6600 256MB

If you have successfully patched and then tried to run the updater, theoretically you should have no problems. I'm not sure why there are things preventing you from enjoying the game, but if you have the time and will, I would suggest uninstalling entirely, and downloading this (http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=24529.msg271903#msg271903) package that Neko put together - it's a copy of a fully patched and successfully updated PlaneShift. This is the only thing that I personally can suggest.
-
It could be that crashing the thing due to not putting in the patch could bork a few things in the updater. Try deleting you version.dat in the PlaneShift folder then dump in the patch and run the updater again.
-
Ok version.dat deleted, then i've run the updater, downloaded new files and patched client, alright. So I've logged in, but crashed at the loading zone screen after character selection, ("access violation... 6969CD0A" as before). Also there were some glitches at login screen.
Tryed a second time, now entered the game succesfully, but quests page is glitched as i said in the previous post.
Third time, entered game again, random glitches at login and quests page as usual.
So, now i've patched the game, but the issue causing instability is still not solved.
I'll try a clean install as Karyuu suggested.

hey speakin of the patch thing i just tried winrar and it says 106 errors and access denied

I still have problems here. Take a look at the diagnostic file: download_file (http://www.uploading.com/?get=1CQHEEFK)
