I was trying to install the latest tech demo and I read that it needs a patch. I tried extracting the patch in the folder but it had to replace some files that couldn't be replaced for some reason, I then uninstalled the tech demo because it didn't work. I tried deleting the patch files but you know sometimes you can't delete something because it's being used by the user. So, I tried installing an old version of the tech demo (Because the last tech demo was a bigger file) but I had to replace the files of the patch of the latest version, I clicked ignore for all the files. Then something strange was happening to the system, it had these command prompt like pop-ups, I ignored this and uninstalled PlaneShift straight away. I shut down the computer for an hour or so, not so long ago I turned it back on but with constant Microsoft Windows "The system has recovered from a serious error" pop-ups (Really annoying), I've tried to send an error report but it still shows the error. How can I fix this?

Whenever you can't overwrite or remove something, that means it is currently in use. The easiest way to fix this is just to reboot your machine, instead of reinstalling or uninstalling or going through all the madness that you went through :) You did something to your system, and the problem is no longer PlaneShift-related... There is never any reason to install an older version of the client - updating is often impossible or a tremendous hassle that we do not advise to anyone.
Try rebooting your machine, and see if Windows calms down again. Then uninstall anything PlaneShift-related that you had, reinstall the latest version, apply the patch, and run the updater. If anything seems to be in use at any step, just reboot.

Um... what in the world did you do?...
I'm getting quite astounded as to how many people don't know how bad Windows is with file locks. It likes to "lock" a file when something is using it to "protect it", though it just screws with things and it never unlocks them when it should. Just learn to reboot the stupid thing. Follow the instructions in the sticky (http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=24432.0) verbatim, and you should be fine.

I managed to delete the patch files, which is good :D That teaches me a lesson, not to install PlaneShift ever again until a stable release >:(
Back to my computer and yes, I did turn off my computer and left it cooling down for an hour or so, isn't that enough? I don't want to go into a difficult procedure just to stop the "The system has recovered from a serious error" from popping-up. The system has recovered anyways, why is it giving me this s**t!
The pop-ups disappear if I leave it lying there but once I click the Taskbar, it re-appears again!

Stable release? PlaneShift? Waiting for 1.0 is going to take a long time, eh? :}
Leaving a computer cooling doesn't fix anything that isn't really heating-related, as this wasn't. We didn't mention any difficult procedure - just reboot!

OK! Keep your freakin' face on your head.

I believe the proper reply is "Thank you for giving me suggestions on how to fix my problem." :P

Ok, I'm going to try... if it doesn't work then... I'll have to find a proffesional ;D
-
A "proffesional" is going to look at you confused until you just reboot the freakin' computer... You've got 2 developers trying to help you here... please try to listen.
-
Hell, I said I was trying. Lucky I'm going easy on you because it worked, happy? DaveG?

There's no reason to get so aggressive... If it worked, you should be thankful more than anything at the suggestions offered :/
You're welcome.
