EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION at 01035C2C
When i try to load the PlaneShift - Tech Demo this message comes up
-
Hiya! Can you please post your system specs for us, OS included, and mention if you have everything successfully patched and updated?
-
No i cant even RUN the updater
This is weird because i have a really fast computer, its brand new (MAY 2006) and has never had a single virus.
-
I would need your system specs please. When we ask for information here for tech support, we really do need it :} A brand new computer may not mean that it's powerful enough for some games, but I'll need details to find out. Things like your processor, RAM, video card, etc.
-
Perhaps your firewall may be blocking the connection to the update server.
You do need to update the client before you can play, so this is the problem you should address first.
-
Erm, I think it has a like 500 ghz but i dont know the rest sorry Windows XP sp2
*edit*
Its only a laptop bear in mind
Please avoid posting two or more successive posts before others have replied. Just edit your last post to add new information. Thanks! --Karyuu

Here's what you do: Right-click on My Computer, hit Properties, and then at the bottom you should see things like your processor and RAM. For example:

Then right-click anywhere on your desktop, hit Properties, got to the Settings tab, and look for your graphics card under Display:

Tell us what all of these say.

Except you don't quite have a graphics card, and that's rather important :P Have you had it work before, Myrthe?

just to ask Karyyu, i'm very noobish with my new computer..how do you take pictures of your desktop, i'm taking that its a program, and just wanted to know which one it was..
@rocketjack, seems like...are you running a dell???? They can be way to annoying...but yeah, you will have to go to a seperate program, karyyu can probably tell you what it is...its like dx**.exe or something of that..

Print screen
Even i know that! :)
press the Prt Sc button
If you are using a laptop you may need to hold the FN key and press Ins key

Thanks, roketjack! Looking over the specs though, I'm afraid that may not be enough to play PlaneShift on your laptop... Laptops are notorious for not being as powerful as desktops, and nowhere is this as evident as when it comes to gaming, unless you're going to throw big bucks for a gaming notebook. You have a graphics controller that is integrated into your motherboard instead of a separate graphics card, and this is a big issue for massive 3D games. We can try to see if what Santiago suggested will take you a little further, but I would not expect a pleasant experience. What happens when you try to run the updater?
Kymizer: I use a program called SnagIt (http://www.techsmith.com/), from TechSmith. It's the most comfortable and easiest screen capture application I've ever had the pleasure of using - and it makes me want to go screenshot trigger happy :P

yup.
EDITED FOR OFF-TOPICNESS
-
Im running an advent 7090 laptop
-
Roketjack, try to apply the patch as stated in our Install Instructions (http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=24432.0), then run the updater and tell us what happens.
Myrthe: that's a bit too off-topic, and unfortunately I'm not computer savy enough to give you an educated answer ;P
-
it will work on my dads computer so now i must leave to install it on there
-
Remember to install the patch before you run the updater! :}

:o Money!!!
know any free ones...ehh..off topic a little..
good luck roketjack!!! I'm sorry that it might not work on your laptop, yet maybe some good news. On my school computer (our county gives its students laptops for the school year) Planeshift worked fine on it. But it also had a Radeon card in it, so yeah....it was a dell..and way to many administrator settings on it...
-
you also run dxdiag to see your system specs in Windows. someone mentioned something about that...
