Title: Why so low damage?
Post by: Znurre on July 31, 2006, 08:28:13 am
Yesterday (Tuesday) there was very much server crashing, high ping and disconnects.
Anyway, it worked good when it worked, but the suddenly in the evening when i joined after dinner.. my hits took almoust no damage at all!
What's happened?! Or is it my char that has been damaged?
I used to kill a rat in 2 hits (14damage), but now it's just about 0.6 - 1.60 damage :S
If this is a server problem, i really do hope they solve this...

what's happening is probably that the quality of your weapon has hit rock bottom. the repair weapons skill is available now and training is offered. it's still a bit buggy but they are working on it. you'll have to repair your weapons to do the usual damage.

But definitely there's something weird:

What's happening?

P.S.: and now I'm also invulnerable: it takes 20 min to kill a tough monster, but since I get no hurt.... I can leave it battling for hours  ???

1000 experience points isn't that big of a deal :) 200 exp points become 1 progression point, and 5PPs, while a good amount, isn't exactly spectacular.

Maybe NPCclient is having spasms again, if monsters aren't attacking back. It happens.

But definitely there's something weird:
  • I used to kill a rat with a couple of swings, now it takes dozens and more for 30 exp point
  • I used to be killed, almost instantly by a rouge, now I can easily kill them and got 1000 (that's right a thousand) exp points an 5 prog point alltogether

What's happening?

P.S.: and now I'm also invulnerable: it takes 20 min to kill a tough monster, but since I get no hurt.... I can leave it battling for hours  ???

yeah, i dont get hurt either! Tht's all so wierd!!

I bought a new axe, exaktly like my old one, but still this low damage!
The most damage I can do is 7, and thats in bloody state!
Besides, i dont loose any lives, so now i can kill any monster :P

And by the way, the npc's attack! That's not the problem.
The problem is that they take no damage! Seems like the damage level has been lowered if you get what i mean.

*edit*

Seems fixed now :D

It would explain why my newest character couldn't kill a rat even if he used claymores (no sword or melee experience, but with a claymore I should've been able to do SOME damage).

Hi, I redid my character [on character startup I put lots of points into alchemy and herbal because I didn't know they weren't implemented] and and made sure to get some points in weapon repair [have 6 in weapon repair].

Anyway, if you buy a weapon from the merchants, they start out with only 10/50 quality and will dull to uselesness in just a few hits. So, what you do is buy a new weapon [the kind you are most skilled with] and then have it repaired to full strength. Then it will do way more damage than it would normally when you buy them! If the enemies are having trouble fighting back then you've got it made! :)

Anyway, it is tough now for new characters to kill even rats to get their first progression points even to start mining for xp. Hope it gets balanced out soon.

Also, is there anyone who has invested in melee combat? Was wondering if unarmed combat may be a good way to go with weapons getting damaged now.
