This topic could actually go in a bunch of different sections... I'm putting it in Wish List for now because it seems like that is the closest.
There've been a few topics lately by Enkidukai players complaining that pretty much all the RPing and events are done in Hydlaa and therefore, if they die, they have to walk all the way back down Oja Road in order to do stuff. I've participated in these topics and decided that I would start a campaign (both IC and OOC) to make Ojaveda more interesting. The IC portion is (or will be once I actually get around to starting it) mostly directed at opening the doors around Oja. Obviously having more area in Oja, like the Talad Temple for instance, may lead to more people deciding it's worth the trip. (I really hope to see a "Vespers of Talad" guild!)
However, OOC discussion on improving Ojaveda is also needed. In this topic, I hope that PS players will come up with suggestions to draw more visitors to Ojaveda. I admit that because only one race in the game starts in Ojaveda and everyone else starts in Hydlaa, it would be virtually impossible at this stage to make Oja as lively as Hydlaa is, even if the whole city was complete. Hydlaa will probably continue to be at least somewhat dominant over other cities until there is a city for every race to start in... but we should at least find a way to make Oja more of a city and less of an extended Death Realm for Enkis.

I.. don't know why a Temple of Talad would be in Ojaveda :) Enkidukai aren't particularly religious.
Is this a thread for players to make improvements, or dev ideas with game features/mechanics? If it's more for player initiatives, it may be better placed in General Discussion.

I'm sure once the quarantene ends on the other Dsars and they open their doors, it'll be as booming as Hyldaa. ;)
But, yea ...I'd most welcome IC events in Ojaveda!! :D
-
May I mention the Community of Vaalnor? Many happy weddings at Th' Broken Door? And several yet not regularly used shops? - Just a little extending, and Ojaveda can be another center of attention. Due to the placement of Enack Lerenal, it already is more frequented by hunters.
-
The Temple of Talad is in Ojaveda. I think one of the NPCs mentioned that it's in Dsar Sarraghi.
-
With the recent discoveries of resources that hitherto have been only found upon Hydlaa's doorsteps, Ojaveda now is bustling with activity -especially at Trasoks- and looks quite like a wild frontier mining outpost!
My character is looking forward to entertaining evening performances at Th' Broken Door and heartily wishes to shout: "Bring on the Dancing Fenkis!" \\o//

I think that at least one of the doors in ojaveda should stay closed untill player owned houses are available, so that you can own houses in ojaveda.

who said you won't be able to own any of the houses in the opened areas? ;)

I think saying that there are no reasons to go to Oja is a little short-sighted perhaps, in my humble opnion. There were a couple of reasons to go there before (a least one significant trainer that I only ever found in Oja). But I like Oja because nobody really wants to go there. PCs are friendlier in Oja, they will speak to you more often. As more food becomes available in game, perhaps there should be regional specialties in cuisine. There should be more farmers in the land closest to Oja as well, so perhaps there could be a farmer's market in the dsan. Food could be made to do something for the PC as well. Nothing to heavy, perhaps temporary stat or skill bonuses; or actions that are performed when you eat something...

Up to 0.3.014, Ojaveda had a real disadvantage for beginners -- very unbalanced and different monsters (either rats with too low experience gain, or rogues with too high defense), Enkidukai just had to leave Ojaveda sooner or later, and rather far, to train skills.
Since 0.3.015, Ojaveda is the only area to sell hides, no other merchants are known so far. And Ojaveda has merchants with more valuable quests for those beginners who don't like to fight too much. Furthermore, the "cute" and "exotic" factors seem to make it easier to find friends of the same race...
And the final trump: Th' Broken Door is much friendlier and more suitable for a big party, Kada-El's tavern can be cramped (just try to sit on a chair) and is quite dark.
So I would say, Ojaveda now has some serious advantages over Hydlaa... But neither town can exist without the other - inhabitants of both towns will need to travel to the other now and then. No need to cry about Oja!
-
Well, as some of you may know I have a bard performance every Saturday night at Kada-el's. I originally planned to have a weekly alternation between Kada-El's and The Broken Door, but every time I step foot into Ojevada the place is like a ghost town. I'd really like to have every other weekly performance or so at the Broken Door, because I think it would help add a bit of IC stuff there. However, no one ever seems to go there except to sell their hides, but I'd really like to help that change.
-
How about gathering folks at Kada's, then travel-bard your way over to the Broken Door, singing and merriment all the way?
-
Make it known widely, and you will have visitors... I heard here about it the first time. :(

That's what I've been trying to do. The only way I really know how to, though, is by /shouts leading up to the perfomance and just by performing. Setting out free beer helps too. :P
And that traveling band thing is a great idea, Karyuu, but it takes me about a half hour to get to Oja...I don't think a lot of people are too into the even to go through that XD
-
The room downstairs in "th' broken door" is unused and empty, also the dorr is locked? some kind of special rented hall? some beer storage? or perhaps they will be converted to bedrooms or perhaps more seating? thats one small developmen the owners of the tavern can do :P
-
Maybe th' door's broken... ???
-
Maybe th' door's broken... ???
then they should get a locksmith to unlock it, then they can feel that empty room. :)
-
Half an hour for travel seems way too long... I'm having a hard time imagining how that time might be spent! :) 10 minutes would be really stretching it, for me.
-
Technicalities, technicalities...maybe not a half hour, but it does take a pretty long time XD longer than before the update, at least.

My character likes to swim in the River as a pleasant and refreshing experience to indulge in and as a break in the journey. Also he checks out the entire river, because sometimes, some inconsiderate souls who think they are being clever, like to litter the riverbed with fish! Grrr >:(
-
Someone said something today that somewhat changed my outlook on this whole thing... She said that she stays in Ojaveda because she likes peace and quiet. That might be a good reason to keep Oja small compared to Hydlaa, although it doesn't really fit with the setting. Oja is supposed to be big! Heck, it's on the loading screen when you start up the client, as well as when you're on the road currently!
-
Oja has nothing
Merchants, trainers, pillow tents, events and stories of life ... all that is "nothing" for you?
Not only the developers make a town worth being there. You as player are just as responsible. If you don't enjoy Ojaveda at the moment, try to change it -- but by adding your ideas and plots, instead of arguing with developers about how they worked...

Looks like the Plaza Times need to publish new issues immediately... :-[ -- Fortunately the reporters are still around, we just need to get the editorial office running again.
-
As I said before: I like Oja. The town has secrets. And there are interesting things nearby. Plus, nobody ever goes there, so there is less whining...
-
Well the only real minor thing I would like to see at the moment is for day and night to work in oja properly, and the moment its static at two different times (one side is night one is evening(?)) :)
-
Indeed, lighting is really a bug to be fixed. I analysed the world file some time ago and found a few possible reasons, but did not learn enough for a proof of my guesses...
-
I think I'd like to set up a "black market" type shop in Oja, in one of the tents or shops. Maybe something once a week that would stir people to go there, I'd sell selfmade weapons, rare items, or just regular items for the newer players. The only reason I stay around there is to help some newbies, but I love the city itself. I want to see it alive, because it's actually a beautiful and well-made place. I honestly would like it better than Hydlaa if it was more busy.
Has anyone other than me noticed that Oja was more active before the updates? Before I could see 20-30 people, many of them not even Enkis. Now you just get the newly spawned n00bs.

[ Thread split (http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=24876.0) into two and cleaned! Please carry on with suggestions for Ojaveda and its area :) ]

Well... you could start setting up some things there...like Vitaji, posted by Mykentros, then maybe more people would come.
If you want to read the thread here you go:

It seems like an interesting game, and he probably needs somewhere to start it up. Well why not in Oja. It could help everybody, from the Oja citizens, to the main stream gambler society. \\o//
