Why is Harnquist gone? He hasn't been back for about 20 minutes, and I even checked the tavern and he wasn't there either. What's the point of this NPC movement thing? At least move some unimportant NPC's like the ones next to the fountain, but NOT Harnquist, the one we all need.
Descriptive thread titles are wanted.
-
well one of the goals in the game is for NPC's to be intelligent enough to evolve the world by them selves, thats why they will be able to move, go places and eventually do things by themselves.
-
Ok, but Harnquist hasn't come back in about an hour now, and his shop's getting packed with people waiting for him to come back. He just completely disappeared, he didn't "go" anywhere.
-
heh he probably got drunk and went the wrong way :P
-
Poke a GM on IRC to look into Harnquist's position: if he's fallen off the edge of the world, it'll take a second to move him back.
-
I think i saw him on the bottom of the death realm. :sweatdrop: methinks he died?
-
Hell I never liked him anyway
-
1) Why is he moving? :detective:
2) Who is moving him? :detective:
3) Can you just leave him still like he was so he wouldn't disappear ever 10 minutes? :detective:
-
1. No reason
2. Talad
3. Apperantly not.
:P
-
Harnquist is moving due to recent fixes to the NPC "paths" system, that lets them walk on predefined, well, paths :} This is to add realism to the world. Adjustments are still needed, definitely. One step at a time.
-
harnquist has been moving too in 0.12 or 0.13 now he's doing it again alhtough there is a bug making him invisible when he go to his house not far away... it's on the road to the arena... you can do "/buy harnquist" and "/sell harnquist"... don't think you can train or trade with him though i have tried.
Else, it needs a server crash or a dev to reset him
-
That's not a bug making him go invisible, he deliberatly goes invisible when he enters his house. He needs sleep you know :P
-
lol... then he would be underground or something xD, a gm teleported him to his usual space and still invisible :P
-
... well they screwed up the script and the server probably needs a reboot then :)
-
hes stuck inside his house ATM can somone move hi mback to his normal possy or tell us the command to train with him whilst inside the house. ATM w ecan buy andsell thanks to peacer
-
I would say /train, but that might be too obvious.
-
Hornquist is definitely better. xD
-
yeah, Hornquist is more entertaining than Harnquist :)
-
Or as someone referred to him tonight, "Drunquist". One thing about Harnquist being gone, some of us only get odd random times to login at and this can be a downer if you are trying to do something specific. Trasok maybe should have the same capabilities as Harnquist.
-
Yeah, if that were the case, Ojaveda would be a lot more popular right now! ;D
-
harnquist isn't bugged anymore if i remember right... if he's not to be seen ANYWHERE then he's inside his house... just simply /target harnquist and then /buy /sell /trade /give /train /say or whatever you need to do with him... no sorry girls (and boys... ;)) i think he has a wife
-
hmm at me only /buy harnquiat and sell harnquist worked i couldnt target him so no training for me.
but anyway after the server reboot hes at his shop atm.
-
i thought that bug was fixed...
-
Has anyone noticed this too.
Harnquist is standing on the road to the arena, so I targeted him and tried to train. Standing right next to him I got the "not in range" message. ???
So I decided to stand near his usual spot and try there. Voila it works. :o
May be just me, but that's pain odd.
-
yeah, Hornquist is more entertaining than Harnquist :)
use his usual nickname he has gotten and you will get a quite funny name :P
-
wow, this is a great idea. I like it alot. Maybe ill get lucky with a harnquist visit soon. XD
-
Hmm, I understand him leaving the shop every now and then and of course after working hours. But it's now 2pm and he is nowhere to be seen. This means he's loosing clients. Couldn't he leave an apprentice minding the shop ? (of course, just working hours) Maybe somebody that only sells/buys stuff ? :D
Never seen anybody leaving his shop unnatended like this before (maybe it's cos he's got the monopoly as he is the only one ?) ;)
-
@ TestLab:
He isn't. Go to Akkaio and you'll find his concurrent. However, Trasok seems not to train Matallurgy, at least not at my level.
-
Harnquist is now gone MOST of the day.
Since i play and Enkidukai player, it doesn't bother me much, being as i have Trasok, and i have another person in Oja that traines Light Armor.
I thank the Gms and Devs for implementing all these things in OJaveda, and I now need to stay there in order to train sword past 20.
I feel this will add more people to the city.
But For my other alternate characters..... i'm having WAYYY tooo much trouble training.
My characters can't raise levels and can't improve because Harnquists gone.
And we need a fix, you can't tell me him being Gone THIS MUCH is normal.
Something has to be going wrong.
So when i try to level up my alts, I ALWAYS have a hard time, and i usually just give up and go back to my main.
I hope their working on a way to fix this Harnquist Problem.
-
There IS something wrong.
It was already stated that the timer that schedules Harnquist is bugged.
-
Harnquist is still bugged yes.
It's very easy to explain what is wrong with him.
Harnquist has got a sleepingmode added to his system.
When this mode starts, then he walk to his house and becomes invisible.
At that moment a timer is running and should wake him up again.
He should become visible again and walk back to his shop.
The problem is with the timer.
Harnquist does not get a signal back or is interpreted wrong by the server, when the timer expires.
This results that Harnquist remains at his location, does not walk back and does not become visible again.
A server crash resets the sleepingmode for a few minuts, but turns on, after these minuts and the problem is back.
I have send a message to the developers about this problem already.
-
If this keeps up Harnquist will be out of business! (It would be pretty funny if when the problem was fixed, Harnquist was replaced with a new NPC who did the same things, and if you asked him about Harnquist he'd say "He left because he was tired of all the people crowding around his shop and even bugging him at home to do things.")
-
Maybe we should replace harnquist with an enki cause they don't usually sleep ;D
-
Yeah! Let's have Veja come down from the arena to do things!
-
I thank the Gms and Devs for implementing all these things in OJaveda .....
:) The Gm's don't impliment anything we just police the game and make sure everything is how it should be, etc. Only the dev's have that authority.
I think Harnquist is probably running off to have a drink with the potion lady above the tavern. (Forgot her name) :whistling: They were a little cozy at Zorbels birthday party, and I have since seen them attend events in the tavern and sneak into the corner to hang out with one and other.
-
i dare say harnquist has dissaperated (dissapeard/evaporated) whats up with that? ::|
is there another place to train skills such as
mining + light armour
-
If you had asked in-game on the plaza, many people would've responded that he's gone untill the next server reboot/crash.
-
that theorey is flawed, as i did ask in game and no one responded with anything like that.
anyways...
the point of this was my question.
is there another NPC to train mining + light armour from
-
Ask in game! People do answer. I have answered that at least 10 times today.
-
Sleeping mode is in game? Sweet!
-
Harnquist has been missing today (and may continue to be missing tomorrow) due to a quest exploit that can very easily gain people a truly silly amount of tria. He's been put in a box until this exploit is given a stern talking to, and Harnquist sends his apologies to all the eager miners and crafters milling about his equipment in his absence.
-
Which means there's a new quest in the game. :beta:
-
Or an old one broke.
Edit: In thinking about what quests Harny is involved in, the third option, an existing quest became expliotable with the changes made to his surroundings in a recent release of the game. I think the quest I'm thinking of can be done multiple times, but I didn't think the pay out was that high to be used as an exploit even with it being able to complete it so easily. I guess if someone was really bored enough they could do that over and over again for the reward each time and after awhile they could amass a small fortune. *shrugs*
-
You didn't even have to complete the quest in order to get an item you could sell back, over and over. Once you got the quest, it was a matter of repeating a single phrase as many times as you'd want - as simple as hitting the up arrow and then Enter, infinitely. It's a problem with the quest script itself. (New quest.)

Ah, like how it used to be with the falka quest.
-
Why the hell do so many people keep complaining about "oh em gee teh shopz r gone lawl, no triaz 4 me11oneine!"
The idea of people and a semi realistic world is that the shop keepers dont cater for you hand and foot. hell if harniiquest was more realistic he'd probably smack you in the face with that hammer of his and throw your carcass into the furnace for being so annoying and not letting him go for a slash and a brew.
Do you wait for people all the time. hell no. harniquest aint going to obey your commands any more than you will his.
-
[ All these phrases are supposed to be IC(Although my character didn't say them in game) ]
Things are difficult now that many have to travel to Ojaveda...
I told Harnquist that he should stop knocking those stiff drinks...
But like a legendary drunkard... he got ill but will not stop drinking...
Luckily for him there is no competitor around Hydlaa Plaza.
Here is an poem(I know I am a bad writer) in honor of him:
Drink drink Harnquist
Fading away with his beer
In an alley among mists
No one needs to be a seer
To see that like silver
Everything else will stain
And eventually his liver
Will fail and healing is vain
Sad will be thus his fate
The drunken lord will be met
Sooner by all of his mates
In the realm of death
[ P.S. - If this is good enough... the moderators may move it to "Communitive Storywriting" ]

Hello. Harnquist is having a lot of problems of late, please inform a GM if he is missing, also if you are there when he is moved back, but cant see him, please do /unstick, you should then see him.
Thank you.
-
Poor bastard... he's always getting screwed up. I remember when his name was 'Hanrquisty' for a while 'cause a GM decided to try out their name-changing powers and got disconnected before he could change it back :P
-
I dont know if anyone has noticed, but the merchant on the Kada-El Tavern roof has run off too.
-
"Oh noes harniqurest is gone! I want static models plz!11 y i cnt mine for wood!?"
Jeeesus christ.
Live with it. Does your local butcher stay in his shop 24/7?
Does everyone always stay in the same plaqce soley for YOUR benfit? No.
Harniquest is treated as a real person in game, as in the planeshift world is simulating an alternate reality and hard as it may be to accept, in reality important people move around too....
-
funny situation ...
anything Harnquist sells can also be bought at some players ... so there is obviously no need for him as a "seller".
BUT ....
those with pockets full of gold ore ... starting their day with "weeez ... I'll make hundredthousends with mining today" ... and then heavily whining about his absence ... just make me laugh and are prooving that mining gold all day is no fun at all ... :whistling:
okay ... he might be needed as a trainer ... but he still comes back sometimes and looks for those who want to train ...
-
Sometime I wonder if they are messing with Harnquist just to make people go back to exploring to find other outlets for things they want to sell.

Sucks to be a miner then, doesn't it? :P
