Title: Updater Help
Post by: Ketsu on August 15, 2006, 09:52:31 pm
I need help on the Updater Application, and I use a Mac OS X V10.4.7. The first part works, but the second part is strange.

A window pop ups and says that my OS doesn't have automatic updating, and that I can fetch and install it from the main site or the forums. Does anybody get it? I don't...  ???

It does that to me the first time I update a fresh install. But then it goes ahead and fetches the update and I never see that again...

Oh, yeah. I then press OK, and it says the update will continue, unexpected things may occur. I wait for a few minutes and nothing happens. I open the application again, but it keeps on coming up.

Odd. I have reinstalled from the .dmg twice, and then twice more (I have three instances of the client I can run) and have not seen it do this. Do you have anything running as a process that might interfere, such as Norton or a virus-checker? Are you able to load the game or is that giving you an error message when you try login and play? I tend to ignore the messages from the updater unless the server actually gives me a message about being out of date or different version...

This is what the updater looks like after the top bar loads:

This is what the game looks like when I open it:

Then after I log in, it says I have to update which I can't.

Have you tried the java updater?

It's under the guide to running planeshift. It usually will do it.

No, I haven't. Thank you! I'll try it, and see.

EDIT: Wait, on this page? http://www.planeshift.it/guide/en/installation-running.html

On this page (http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=14416.0). This "The Guide" on the Mac forums. ;) That should fix you up!
