Title: new commands ?
Post by: loux on August 21, 2006, 10:05:50 am
Hello,
i'm a youg player in planeshift, i wonder if new commands will be added to the game ?
for example to cast spell until the death of the ennemy instead of "/cast Flame Burst" hundred time (or shorcut)
i wonder if i can put my person in a attack way with magic and not weapons because when a rogue attack me, automaticaly my person use his weapons ?
thanks
loux

I like that idea,

sort of like 'mine until i succeed once' rather than 'mine, then even tho i was unsuccesful, ponder what my next move should/would be'

EDIT: To avoid double-posting i'm making this an edit; guess i wasn't clear, but i didn't mean that you mine forever, or move & continue after succeeding.. just that you stay in place & mine until successful once. (Seems to me for rare ores that's about as fair as the swords with 10 minute repair jobs, and for normal ones it's as fair as the above magic idea--after all, with lower magic skills you fail at spells a LOT, so similar to mining failure.. If it's really a matter of choosing each step after the other, as suggested below, then fights using combat skills should require rapid repeated successive use of attack commands)

But alas i think this topic goes on wishlist.

That seems a little macro-y, something we are trying to avoid. You are supposed to be there making every decision for your character as it happens - not place him or her in a selected spot, and do "/target next nearest NPC" followed by a "/cast Flame Burst x50" (an unavoidable scenario with such tools). If you want to keep casting the same spell, then keep casting the same spell :P It would be especially bad with mining, since then there is no danger of a monster "accidentally" overtaking you. Your character just keeps mining until the world falls apart while you're out making some sandwiches.

The attack-automatically-with-magic idea I like though.
