/me from the planeshift quick start guide
You need a good video card. The minimum is around a GeForce3 or ATI Radeon 8500. Usually the video card is more important than the CPU
hmm i've played planeshift on my nvidia gf2 mmx400 64mb ram
anyone else did this but me?

I did it, but I had to make changes to the config file to prevent corruption and it was sloooooow.
Really not recommended, so the guide is correct in my opinion.

I disagree. In the majority of places a GeForce2 MX400 or better should be fine. Other areas though such as the bronze doors I find unplayable even on a P4 2 ghz with a gig of ram and a GeForce4 nvidia card... this is my sisters computer that I put together for them thinking it would play fine, but even with adaptive camera on its very very jerky in that zone. I'm thinking we need to update the requirements or at least recommend a better vid card nowadays.
MY Recommended Minimums
PIII 1.2 ghz or faster or a Pentium M 1 ghz.
Geforce4 Nvidia card or ati equivilant
512 Ram
color monitor... ;)

Sounds like my mashine... only i have 2GHz celeron.
Anyway, in bronze doors region the big FPS drop is only when you look at the waterfall, but then you have some time when you can move with higher FPS till another pause.
At least its how i remember it.

My video card is decent (geforce 5200) but I don't have enough memory (256 instead of 512) and my CPU is quite slow (733 MHz)
So far the game plays fine, I even keep the maps loaded. Only when I visited about 7-8 maps I start to feel it though.

RAM also has a lot to do with it. I have a 32mb Mobility Radeon 7500 (terribly obsolete graphics card) in a 667mhz (well, a mac, so actually about 1ghz equivalent to a PC), originally with only 512mb ram and I had some lag everywhere I went. I now have a gig of ram in the machine, and I only experience significant lag on a busy day in Hydlaa Plaza. I have yet to go to the waterfall at the Bronze Doors though; I bet I would also experience lag there.
