You can try hunting for rats - you don't need a weapon to fight, and rats are the easiest creatures to take down. You can find them in the sewers of Hydlaa, and in the warehouse if you are in Akkaio. Ask for directions if you're unsure of the locations, but some further exploration should be all you need. Loot the rats for their parts - Eyes, Tails, and Hides - and find a merchant who buys these. You can spend money on a weapon, on armor, on magic if you'd like (though magic isn't very powerful right now) and then... whatever you'd like to do after that point :]

Also, you can kill gobbles in the sewers. Gobble ears are traded for better money than rat parts. And they also sometimes give money.
After killing rats and gobbles press " l" and it will enable you to loot whatever they had on them.
There is a potion maker on the top level of the arena. I don't remember her name but she is a Demorian woman. You can sell all your animal ( gobble& rat) parts to her.
Good luck,
Veryawen ( another newcomer to Yllakum)

Her name is Liera. She will buy your Animal Parts, however not so any Hides or Skins or Furs. There are 2 other Merchants who will. One of these is in a valley in the Wilderness, but he keeps company with a rather strong and curious Bandit - you should team up with another citizen of Yliakum who is a strong and competant fighter if you wish to trade these items there.
The other Merchant who buys Hides and Skins and Furs can be found in the city of Ojaveda. His shop really is not hard to find, and it is a much safer area to visit. Just look for a skin on the ground outside his shop! :)
Note: Ojaveda is not without it's risks - beware of some NPC Rogues that can wander about!
