you admins will hate me for this and probably give me a link to the wish list rules, so if you do hate me/this thread delete it as fast as you can and shun me for a week or two.
here it goes...
Ive roamed around the dungeons once and i found my way to th top of the tower in Hydlaa, so i thought it would be awsomely super cool if there was a Da Vinci style hang glider at the top of it! Maybe even a quest accosiated with it. \\o//
Im bracing to be shuned! :surrender:
-
Hey, I'd love for that to be possible :P But.. how does that fit, exactly?
-
for absolute coolness and apeal to the public
"play plane shift, we have hang gliders!" ;D
its like why is there an ancient secret dwarf airport in WoW thats next to impossible to get too O--)
-
PS is supposed to be unique, be unique in that not everything has to ahve a point!
-
Why would the Obelisk (the tower that is one of the dungeon exits) need a hang glider? You can't just add anything you want because it's "cool" :) It has to work with a purpose.
-
But things having purpose is OLD.... Not everything has a purpose.
-
or a really tall...thing...from which it launches,
it could be like a mad scientist dude person wants to test it and he doesnt want to do it himslef (or he's into inssurance scams ;D) so he asks you to do it, for a quest
-
Oh no you don't Farren, not in the Wishlist ;) We have a "Why" rule and I'm upholding it no matter what.
I need to hear another reason besides "It's cool and I would like it."
-
It wouldnt be another mundane quest, i.e. 'hey, want this, go get this and that and i'll give it to you" or "go kill this and you'll get something"
just punish me
-
:( But isn't the point of PS to be unique??? I think this is a grand idea! And you do this whole quest thing and can complete it with the reward being a personal hang glider thing which you can use by jumping off of like tall cliffs and such...
-
Yeah! Listen to Farren! :sorcerer: thats the spirit!
-
Doesn't matter if it's unique or not, because ICly you won't say "Hey, these were used in WoW, why are they heer!?!?!11"
Now OOCly, obviously having these things will be pointed out, but who cares about OOC? It's a roleplaying game. =P
-
Suno, was that agreeing with me or disagreeing?
-
Agreeing. =P
I have a way of making it impossible to tell what I'm talking about, I know. I sorta get sidetracked and think of some weird thing when I type. Anyway, yeah...doesn't matter if it's been used in other games, this is a roleplaying game, not "that game."
Did that make more sense? =s
-
We have hang gliders. We call them Klyros. :P
josePhoenix
-
They don't fly though :offtopic:
-
Yet...
-
Well.... maybe we can just wait and the Klyros will evolve....
And why do they have wings if they dont fly?
As to haveing it go off the Obelisk, where would you go too? "OMG wow, i just went all the way over too teh ovur syd ov Hydalaa 0n a hang glider lawl."
Or " Ir teh pwnage cuz I crashed into a forest on teh way 2 da magik shup. I r teh |-|4r|)(0R3!!!!!!"
-
Why not use them as a cheaper form of air travel, maybe spells could be used to extend their range and cross distances quickly. Maybe even an easy way to descend from level to level. Just don't fall off!

... that's all i should say...
-
I had a funny dream last night where there were crystal powered enginese which propelled the gliders, it could be an upgrade thats purpostrously expensive so not eveyone has it
-
Well.... maybe we can just wait and the Klyros will evolve....
And why do they have wings if they dont fly?
Before the Klyros came to Yliakum, they had lived in a universe with limited gravity, therefore they didn't need much strength to lift off.
-
How do you know that?

sounds like the airships in the voyage of the jerle shannara series by terry brooks.
-
i could have sworn they were aquatic, making the wings more like fins
-
How do you know that?
Suno: I've been in the KCP for too long to not know.
Krann: They are, they like to live in all environments, it's just that Yliakum has restricted them to water and earth.
-
whos to say that these werent invented earlier in PS. say we had some really smart dwarf and he invented a TV in the second year PS was around. its not like if it was invented somewhere THIS date it would be invented somewhere else the same date. obviously tv wouldnt get invented tho.
-
hmmm... if they come from a planet with limited gravity.. this means they can't gain height but they can glide... don't let them fly.. let them glide
as for the other classes : flying creatures (which is planned) or brooms ^^ lol now you'll hate me too because this is a cliché :D
hmm maybe just drop the broom make that airships <= fantasy themed and practical ^^ aww what the hell :) just let us make floating houses XD (<= eh lol ;D this is not a bad idea)

Good point. Eagles often glide on warm air currents.

If that was brainstorming then ok, otherwise making floating cities would require immense engineering knowledge and resources. The Klyro's don't have that luxury at hand :]

Unfortunatly i'd have to disagree with the idea for two reasons.
The first, being the most important, would be:
1. Why would we need it?I mean we're going to have flying creatures some time in the game?
But I have a comment about that, why couldn't we just put it in first, have it there and then at some point in the game people could be like "Hey we found a new flying creature!Screw hang gliders." Which would work, but I don't think it'll happen.
and the second:
2. There is no second, I just wanted to say I like the idea and that it would be great fun, but the problem is is my first reason. There are going to be flying beasty like things so there are no need for gliders...but you know what people SHOULD discuss, creatures that walk on the ground and you can ride on'em. I see that discussed so little around here.
-
well reason could be.. ;D
there are always some crazy inventor/scientist ready to do some crazy stuff around the corner ;D
-
Took me a while, but i finally realized what i was thinking ps was/could be like with regards to tech before it's time: He-Man's planet, Eternia. They had a very renaisance/medieval everything about them, but mad cool tech-- because of their skill etc the heros would generally be using hand to hand weapons & favoring riding animal type transport...
-- so how about we take a cue from them & add ranged weapons & incredibly advanced means of locomotion... Just give them to the npcs rather than the players :P ;D :D
-
Hey wow I just got a great idea :)
Lets read all the settings info, and see what is planned.
Oh wait, heres another Idea;
Lets wait for the planned additions :woot:
-
hmm is the third idea to remove the wishlist? :P

Where can we find that?

And yall are only thinking of the eccentric madman side. Think romantic. This poor peasant wants to reach the skies for his love (kinda cheesy but hey what the heck) and, unable to buy a flying winged thing, builds a cheap hang glider :whistling:. Even more fun is that if you don't read the note attached to it and realize he dies before he gets to test it, wham bang SPLAT! Free trip to death realm. :woot: (Maybe the support gives way and the glider flies off without you.)
