Strange :o the game is lagging like my computer was 20 years old i have checked the rquierments but my computer should handle it with no problems :o :o ???
Excessive smileys removed.
-
Post your pc specs please.
-
where do i find them
-
Start-->settings-->configurationscreen-->system-->hardware
Look for processor, videocard, RAM/memory, etc.
Also make sure you have the latest graphics driver for you videocard, etc.
-
i´ve checked it and the cmoputer should drive the game easy
-
check for virusses, spyware, and other adware that might have infiltrated your computer
-
Even if you think your pc should handle it fine, you can still post them here :)
And do what Peacer says and clear your pc of all crap. Also make sure you have the latest drivers.
-
i´ve done all that but it still dont works
-
/me waits for detailed specs to show up
Also "I've done all that" doesn't tell us anything; what did you exactly do?
-
i downloaded the patch and did all like that but when i started the game the graphics was nuts but why do i have to leave spec when i now my computer has those specs
-
Okay.
First, we don't know if you if your pc is good enough :)
We've had lots of people saying "my pc is able to run it", and yes, in most of those cases the cpu and memory were sufficient, the graphics card almost never was though ;)
Secondly you said "I downloaded the patch and all that", but did you also remove all crap from you pc and update your drivers, as we told you?
-
i downloaded the patch and did all like that but when i started the game the graphics was nuts but why do i have to leave spec when i now my computer has those specs
I think because it helps troubleshooting to post specifications. For example my machine is:
Dell Dimension 8400
CPU: P4 3.0Ghz
Ram: 1G
Video: ATI Radeon X300 128MB
OS: Ubuntu 6.06
The hardware on my system is adequate per the specs of the game. The OS (a debian derivative) seems to be supported. But when I first installed the game it would crash and lock my whole system in an unrecoverable state. I went to the Ubuntu forums to find out what could be wrong. I realized I was using an older and open source version of my video driver. When I took the trouble to find and install the proprietary ATI driver and config console I could then run the game just fine.
Let's say I couldn't figure out why machine was crashing and had to ask for help. By posting the specs above, people could start asking relevent questions to help me solve my problem. This is almost always why people ask for system stats and specs. It has nothing to do with how good someone's computer is. There is always a crappier computer than yours and on the flip side there is always a machine right around the corner that is going to smoke yours into oblivion.

wait, hold on a sec, u mean there was a computer capable of running 3D games 20 years ago?
-

Updating your graphics card drivers can get rid of lag - are you absolutely sure you have the latest?
Here's the process:
- Go to Nvidia's driver page (http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp).
- In the box below "Start Here" choose "Graphics Driver," then "GeForce and TNT," then your operating system, and click Go.
- Download the driver, but save it instead of installing immediately. Remember where you save the file!
- Right-click on My Computer, and click on Properties.
- Click on the Hardware tab, then on the Device Manager button.
- In the window that pops up, expand the "Display Adapters" selection.
- Right-click on your graphics card, and select Properties.
- In the next window, click on the Driver tab, and choose uninstall.
- After the uninstallation you will have to restart your computer.
- After the restart, open the driver install file you downloaded, and run it.
- All should be well.
-
now i have done that u told me but it still dont work >:(
-
Do other 3D applications work correctly? Also it is possible its a skin problem. Open planeshift setupd (pssetup) and click on "Skin Browser" and attempt to use a different skin. It might also help to post a screenshot of what is going on so we have a clear visual of the problem.
-
and how do i put in the screenshot
-
once you've taken a screenshot, surf over to http://imageshack.us and upload an image there. Then it will give you some options like Thumbnail for Forums. Copy and paste the code they provide into your post and voila!

This is a problem with your graphics drivers, definitely. Updating should have fixed this. Can you tell us what driver version you have?
Click on "Start" then "Run..." and type "dxdiag".
Go to the Display tab, and on the right-hand side you will see "Main Driver," "version," and "date." What is the version?
-
if u mean DirectX version its 9.0c
-
No, I meant what I wrote :} Go to the Display tab, and tell us what main driver version you have.

i got version 6.14.0010.5673 (english)

You do not have the latest drivers installed. Did you download the file as per Karyuu's instructions? If not, please visit this link (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_91.47.html) and follow the instructions to download the latest drivers (currently version 91.47).
Once you have downloaded it, find where you saved it to, and then doubleclick the file and follow the instructions. You will be required to reboot your machine after this is done. Then try Planeshift again.
-
now i cant logg in cuz it says i run wrong version but i have uppdated it
-
There's a new release.
-
where do i get it
-
You have to run your updater a few more times. If you get problems, delete the file version.dat from your main PlaneShift folder and run it again. And again and again if it won't let you into the game - a few people have found that the updater won't get everything at once, and you need to prod it into fetching all of the new content several times :>
-
thank u! now it works \\o// \\o//.just 1 thing how do i change the game to fullscreen
-
open up your ps setup application, the option for full screen is in there.
