Title: Is anyone worried about PS later on?
Post by: emer on September 03, 2006, 05:12:42 pm
It may not make sense so i will explain more. Oh yeah as i type i am downloading the game  ;D
 \\o//

Now to the topic at hand.

I am worried that as PS gets more popular it will degrade in style. If you look at other MMORPG's Like one i used to play, Runescape, it is VERY popular even though half the games costs to play... But the peoples names are like n00bs 5uck and other stupid things. I am worried as PS gets more popular the team will not be able to keep a lid on all the things they stand against at the moment and i wondered if other people have these fears?

I think the GM team will be quite able to face any similar situation to what you describe above. If the situation will require it, the GM team will expand in order to be able to deal with any given circumstances, so I wouldn't wory about chaos setling in in the future ;)

PS: Welcome to PlaneShift and enjoy ;)

nope.  karyuu won't let it.  we have her tied up in a room where if she wants food, she must protect the game from these things.

In more seriousness, still nope.  The community won't let any of that happen.

Oh and Syilph, Cha0s is already here.  ;D

Maybe i won't be honest, but if he runescape devs ever wanted to make their game different than it is now, then they are real loosers ;P If  was at their place, i would have stopped developing this game long time ago. But maybe they are happy of what they have, especially as people pay them?

As long as in PS we will have great devs and players wo support the same great idea and nobody will be payed money for this, then i think we are perfectly safe ;)

Always nice to see a new player who already understands how silly and irritating it is to see characters who look like their names were ripped from an AIM buddy list.

Welcome to PS and enjoy.

I just quit runescape BECAUSE of the reaaallly bad community.  This game seems to have better graphics, a better community, and more to do.  I can't wait till I can play (go to help forum to help me please lol).  You can't say I didn't give runescape a try, because I was level 91 with a 1400+ total.  This game overall, looks better.

Welcome to planeshift young soul :) You have been converted to the light side *coughs* anyways :P I would not be too worried, the community here is a blast quite good, sure there are problems, but there will always be, nothing is perfect :)... although with the current team i don't fear anything at the moment, we'll see what the future brings

Just to let you know, in PS this means completly nothing. Since PS has better skill system, there is no way to describe a person with two numbers. More, it is one of the least important matters while playing PS. While ps has great community, it has also worked out high level of roleplaying. You won't go far without being good in the second or with will to learn, because leveling up you will end terribly bored ;)
Read the guide, setting, history - carefully! and ask smart questions. People like to help, but it is not always good to ask questions which show total disrespect to this what you should know after reading what i wrote about above ;)

hmmm not sure if I would call it better yet ;)

The idea behind it is great but needs some finetuning to make that not everyone is a master at everything but it'll get there.

As for names like that I'm not worried at all. Ofcourse there are some worries about PS, but those aren't among them atm. One of the reasons it's such a good community I guess ;)

The only thing which I worry about for PS, is the dramatic increase in people so desperate to be vampires or slayers, it's getting ridiculous that it is even allowed, I never knew people could be so unoriginal and uninspired with the topics they choose to roleplay in what is a quite unique setting already with no need of cliched RP ideas which people could easily satisfy if they bought WoD books.

The game is built around role-playing in other games they could care less as long as they get the money like WoW. And remember Runescape is a bad word here! So just make sure your good at role-playing and you will enjoy your stay with us.

In my personal experience, the runescape community sucks. There is nothing but idiots, scammers and cheaters. You occasionally find a person who is ok, but the are rare.

The PS community is so much better than that, thats why I stopped playing Runescape.

I think it is down to everyone whether an expand of the community turns out for better or worse...

Quite wise, Cyl.

And from the ground up and the top down, PS is all about RP. This means the grass-roots community are being encouraged by the Devs to support encourage and educate new players in RPing, so that even if they prefer to PL, they can understand and respect RP. If there is disrespect to the point of disrupting, then it willl be a small part of the community and the GMs will be able to keep things bareable.

I'm not worried about the future of the PS. Don't look at other, bigger MMO's and fret. PS is different in fundamental ways. The seed planted was different. The roots that have grown are different, and the tree that springs forth from it will be different.

 ;)

I laughed so hard at this. It is great. Especially funny if you have played runescape.
