Is there a religoun system? This would make the game more realistic if there isnt one. Also, with he religoun system comes the Job of Priest/Priestess. Along with being a priest may come Marriage/Divorce? I dunno it sounds good to me.
For the religouns there can be certain gods to worship, and there can be a system of Faith. With certain amounts of Faith you can do more with your religoun, like pray to the gods for certain items they offer for your faith. when you pray for items your faith decreases. To pray maybe you need an item like a prayer necklace.

I suppose you mean religion(?)
I think it would be quite nice to have some kind of religious activity in planeshift, but maybe the rewards should be somewhat less concrete than items. There will probably already be many skills that reward you with items and I think a god would rather do more \'divine\' favors to those who devote their time to them.
The kind of reward I\'m thinking of, would be the oppurtunity to get special quests from the gods, or special powers, or maybe a luck bonus on everything you do...

About religion. Well we know there are gods, we know there are temples, and we know there are priests. So that would leave us to also know that rteligion plays a large part in this world. Laanx and Talad used to be friends and now they are rivals. Laanx had his temple raised right in the center of Talad\'s people\'s capitol city. There is some tension between these deities and thus so would there be tension between their followers.

so....? what are you saying

how about planeshift has one religion, and this religion is polytheistic, consisting of many gods for different things, and you can worship/pray to these gods and in return, something would happen to your character reflecting what god you worshipped, and maybe for warriors, you have a symbol of a god of war, fighting, or strength on your sword or shield or something, and it makes you stronger in some way, its sort of a way to have special weapons like \"this is no regular sword, it has the symbol of Rahazar the god of war and strength engraved on it, it will bring you good fortune in battle\" or something of the sort.
-
hey how about an evil and dark religion? liek when you create a character you can choose a religion! it would be cool to have a dark and evil god who gives you destrutive miracles and powers to bring havoc upon people.
-
hmmm.... that could possibly fit in with the multiple god idea I had, some gods could be good (love) some neutral (fighting) and some evil (death).
-
If theres going to be a religion system... then make it where Preist\'s and such get different stuff from different Religions or something close to that

I like the idea about good and evil gods.
Players should have to pray to their god to give him power, like in Black & White. Then their god will help them in their battle against good/evil.
Oh, and I wanna see evil cults who summon demons, or try to actually summon gods who can help them in their fight against goodness.

I think this is a good idea because it helps add more dimensions to the game play for those of us who would like to have non-fighting characters. The polytheistic religion fits in well because there are already a number of gods in the back story for PS. In addition maybe there could be some minor ones for each type of occupation that could help your chances of doing well if you devote some time to worship. We could see quests from the gods or a religious jihad between the followers of Laanx and Talad.
Or we could tie religion to magic in some ways so that a priest of a very high level would wield some of his/her god\'s magic. I\'m envisioning a smaller god who is the patron of, say, mining. So a character who doesn\'t fight but makes a living mining ores could also spend a portion of his/her time at the temple doing religious things and get some sort of bonus in abilities or maybe in ore production from their mines as a reward from the god. It couldn\'t be a big major thing, I guess, but maybe characters who became high priests of this god would be able to mine for more rare materials more easily.
Possibly the gods of each profession would recieve recognition in the various guilds? Or different gods for each race? Although that one could be tough, how many gods for how many races, and who would keep track of them all? Just throwing out ideas here :)

hmm... how about they add to the story where talad becomes evil (his description with the lava thing fit evil better) and Laanx stays good, and they fight, and branched out and had their mini gods, gods of war and love and so on, which are the ones we pray to to gain strength in certain areas, and also you worship Talad or Laanx, or maybe both or neither to be neutral, depending on what you want to be.

Good and Evil are not what these gods are based on. As with most pantheonic gods, there is an extensive story of their lives and reasons for what they do. I cannot understand the obsession with making these gods into \'good\' and \'evil.\' I think we have enough of these labels in the real world that it doesn\'t seem very fantastical to put them in another one.

Grey is right. These gods cannot be pigeonholed into two-dimensional roles. Both have many \"aspects\" to which human traits can be attributed, but neither is good/evil absolute. While particular types of characters will probably gravitate toward a certain god, the categories really depend on the society you are talking about.
An example of my view of this religion would a \"devious\" aspect of Laanx. Perhaps this aspect embodies the trickster side of humanity. Thieves and rogues may worship her hoping to gain \"deceiving\" qualities. On the same coin, another group may worship the downtrodden aspect of Laanx. This group exalts Laanx\'s trials against Talad and tries to ensure no others are hurt by the \"evil\" in the world. Paladins/holy warriors (of the RP kind) may flock to this faith. Talad could have similar aspects and groups of followers.

The \"runes\" mentioned in the legends can also be played up. Each rune unleashes certain power, channelled by the experienced mind. On the other hand, unexperienced minds can wreak havoc on themselves and their friends through the reckless use of runes.
In any case, the majority of powers should be intangible: protection, luck, communication with deity to gain experience, a zone where nothing spawns, etc.

lord, i am so tired of people wanting a \"dark\" blank or an \"Evil\" such-a-such. Jesus christ! when will people see that nothing is ever black and white, good and bad. Every thing is multi-layered with moods and tones and for this game to even be half unique it needs devs who dont have an evil vs. good mindset. its this precise simple mindedness that is plagueing our world today. Bush wants to destroy the so called \"evil\" terrorists...lord i am so feed up with morons ARRRGGGG!
but getting back to the point... The reason i feel that the dev team should do away with such useless generalizations is because of the same reason they have done away with lvl\'s. the whole concept is flawed and cliche\'d (clee-shayed) and people will be happier when they play a game that more truth fully mimicks an un-over-done concept.
-
I can tell you that the \"good\" and \"evil\" concepts have *never* been discussed among the devs while I have been around--which is almost a year and a half at this point.

ok, honestly I didnt mean direct good and evil, but that one would work for more selfish and devilish reasons, and be more prone to death and destruction and the other would go for the wealth of many instead of one, and love and life. Man, talk about people over reacting, good thing none of you know my adress, I\'m sure youd have me dead by now.
