Anybody see this school shooting on the news today at Dawson college in Montreal?
ka-ray-zee

Hey dudes,
I live in Montreal... here's a link with some info: http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/national/2006/09/13/shots-dawson.html
One woman was killed and it looks like police shot the gunman, and he died soon after.
People seem to be in a bit of a panic, though there's a lot of support going around. The school the shooting happened at is the college I went to, and my sister just graduated from... at least it's not another repeat of the Polytechnique masacre where 16 women were killed by an anti-feminist man who had gone mad.
But to be honest... when comparing this event to the wars being waged now in the Middle East... it keeps me awake at night to think about all the people who are being killed for useless reasons by governments who cannot claim "insanity" and do so with planned reason. :(

Ouch, Thyme.. Life feels a lot less immortal when such things happen in places you have actual connections to.
For every crime and for every murder that gets reported, hundreds go unheard of. Scary and sobering.

Yes. It is all over the news here in Canada, and many of us are affected by it. I shed a tear as I watched one of the girls attending the college explain how she was inside the school while these shootings were taking place. To see fear like that so close to home and think it could be my child next ....
Thyme we have something in common because I cannot sleep at night at times with those thoughts. My heart goes out to the families. I can't even begin to imagine what these families must be going through. May God bless their hearts to be strong through this maddness.

Wow, no it wasn't on the Today show at NYC this morning...at least for the hour i watched it...it seemed they would rather talk about a teacher having sex with a student then talking about school shootings...*sigh*

Well if they're canadians can you blame them from wanting to kill each other?
But seriously, I have a horrible sense of humor. Horrible what happened.

LMAO ... I think you are mixing us up with Americans. :-X [This was a joke, perhaps Aendar's bad humor rubbed off on me.]

I live in Canada (Quebec) near Montreal (next to it).
Sad news, security in my college was reinforced because of it.
Someone I know, old friend from high school was shot there, he is not dead just at hospital but it's still shocking.

Im sorry to hear that DeathsAngel.
Surely it would be better if security went up. Will stop (hopefully) something like this happening again

that's an illusion, the only thing it'll stop is your freedom. this is true for any form of control that's enforced on us for security reasons (cameras, no drinks in airplanes, airmarshalls, internet- and phone surveillance, the list goes on and on).
maybe someone starts to ask why he did it and tries to fix that.

I agree with you miLosh

anarchy isn't exactly a crime free society either.
events liek this are unfortunate in more then one way, to mourn the lives lost of the vicitims of the incident, and that of the person who commited the atrocity, to be pushed to somethign so drastic, clearly, the were undeserving of whatever made them snap, most likely bullying and pent up stress from life

i heard it was because he didn't like preps....and he was anti social....my mom described him as me....and i was like...wtf?
my mom is messed up sometimes...
hmff...i am not anti-social!

i never said that. yes what happend is sad but it has to become a habit of most of the governments around the world to take such events as an opportunity to enforce their surveillance bs on us. bs no one would've accepted otherwise - 9/11 as the most drastic example for that.
-
yea columbine I pity the offenders as they were equally vicims... This guy was just a jackass.
Google him, it's pretty clear... The whole situation is... gah...
No words for it...

The whole situation is just totally messed up. It is just sick that someone would attack a school :(
