Title: Weird problem...
Post by: Siteri Kidachi on September 17, 2006, 03:23:05 pm
OK, so I updated my PS too early and ruined my files. The client, updater, and setup wouldn't work at all. So naturally, I thought I should redownload the game. I did, and now one guy says the updater works. So I tried to run the updater... and THE SAME THING HAPPENED as after I updated the first time! None of the applications would work even before updating them! Can I ever play the game again?!

Find this in"
1a. If you do not have a copy of Planeshift (any version of Crystal Blue) on your computer, download the following installer (based on OS: if you're on 10.4.x and don't need to update through a proxy, you can just use the 10.3.x version), unzip it, and continue to number 2; if you do have a copy of Planeshift, skip to 1b.
OS 10.4.x: Planeshift3D104x.zip.gz (30k)
OS 10.2.x-10.3.x: Planeshift3D103x.zip.gz (30k)

1b. Download the Java Updater below. Move the downloaded Updater.jar file into your Planeshift folder.
OS 10.4.x: Updater.jar (29 k)
OS 10.2.x-10.3.x: Updater-old.jar (29 k)

It may have been an updater mirror synchronization problem.  Open up your vfs.cfg file in a text editor and see if it has this line:
VFS.Mount.this = $.$/
or this line:
VFS.Mount.this = $^$/

If it's the first one, there was some sort of problem with the mirrors and you'll need to run the updater from the command line - or, better yet, replace it with the second line here (i.e. change $. to $^)  and re-run the updater.

If it's already the second line, I could use a crash log.
Thanks!
