Title: Happy Valentine's Day
Post by: Fantasyfiend on February 15, 2003, 08:57:28 am
If your over seas this might not apply to you, but to all of you in the states, Happy Valentines Day! Hope you spent it with that lovey goo-goo stuff I hear about. Otherwise if your like me, it was just an excuse to stuff your face with those boxed chocolates. I think that\'s all I have to say....yeah,  I\'m done.

ya, it rained here all day, and I never found my one true love that I\'ve been searching for, so valentines day doth bring me the winds of misfortune also.

Valentine is just another commercial trick for the stores to make even more money.  :(

i think it\'s originally a cathlic(sp?) celebration. Just like a lot of those holidays are.

So in conclusion the catholic church is spreading commercialism ;)

Actually, it\'s probably ORIGINALY a \'pagan\' holiday, like most of those type are.

Catholic church is the root of all evil in this world. I used to be catholic so I would know.

on the other note, got drunk with some old friends which I haven\'t seen for a while on valentines and made fun of the security guard. Good times :)

I was up drunk at 4am today and wrote out ghetto valentine phrases and stapled them with a condom to girls doors.

men start to be creative when their \'primary brain\' (or secondary - that depends on your point of view) is out of order ;)

It\'s a Pagan Holiday ruined by commercialism
The general idea of the holiday now is to prove you love someone by giving them an object of value, they will love the object and ignore your faults, thus loving what you buy them instead of loving you.

Actually nothing happened to me either. Wish I could meet a girl who actually LIKED video games. It would make Aragorn & Arwen look like Mr. Mrs. Howl off Gilligans Island. It\'s that damn Dead or Alive: Beach Volleyball game. That\'s why girls don\'t like gaming since it\'s making gamers out to be a bunch of loser, pervert, guys. If they made more games like Resident Evil or Animal Crossing I might meet a girl. Until then, I\'m just another casualty. Cripes. Now I feel like I\'ve been on Springer since I opened up.....that or Norman Bates, I\'m not sure.

yeah my girlfriend hated that i played video games... but she did say she liked pac-man.  Legends do tell of girls who like video games but they are difficult to spot because they look just like normal girls.  It would be wonderful to find one of these legendary girls... or perhaps find a way to convert normal girls... ah well

Just go to LAN parties. There usually are some girls around. last one i went to had 4 out of 40, with 2 good looking ones  8)

The way to convert normal girls is through a very complicated alchemical process that requires some very dangerous substances to be consumed.  In my experience, all but a few good-looking girls that like playing games have had very odd, neurotic personalities, so you must choose here.

I agree, most girls that I have encountered that like video games have more than a few screws missing.  But then I seem to be a freak magnet, so now I stay away from girls that have too much of an interest in computers/games.

So I must choose between women and video games? Suddenly I feel sick. This will involve several therapy sessions.

Heh, I know lotsa girls that like video games. (I am one!) Altho I don\'t have many games and stuff, which is really boring.. guess I\'ll have to go buy some, but then that takes away from my chances at a truck I want. :P

And as for valentine\'s day.. BLEH! Just kind of a day of irony or something.. It\'s cruel. :(  >.<

Oh well!

True. Valentines Day is idealized as the one day where your garaunteed that you\'ll find love, the  shower said love with gifts that wouldn\'t sell on the other holidays. Probably created by the Jewelry and Candy Industry. What kind of games do you play? RPG? Platform? Frankly, I\'m waiting for True Fantasy for the XBOX.

DairEve is a hardcore RPGer.  :D Every week she has a new RPG for me to play.

As far as I can remember, I was playing video games. Back when the great comp games had 4 colors and sound was coming out from the pc speakers

and thne the ega monitor came out, and after the vga one. I remember, what a revolution! And at about the same time the adlib gave its place to the sound blaster cards with games with fx sound.

I\'m too old :(

I miss mah space quest I and II and king\'s quest oO

space quest, love it still. I\'m probably not as old as you though. I just didn\'t know that they were old. I probably played all those old games, and then i realized that they were old when everybody talked about \'the good old days\' from police quest and so on.

Hmm well.. in the last few years, I\'ve been really slacking on gameplay..  but I really like multiplayer games.. Most single player games lose my attention after a couple hours. I used to play lotsa lan games with my family, like bf1942, aoe(and many others almost exactly like it  ) And sadly enough I\'ve played VERY few online mp games.. none that require pay..
Oh, and some PS games(yes just plain ps :P) I like to play single player some.. like the ones I can just drive around n blow stuff up ^-^ , but no, I\'ve not played the very well known ones.. :(

Well, if you recall, VGA appeared around the begging of the 1990, which brings us almost 15 years ago. That\'s kinda old imo :P

A couple of years ago I went around and downloaded a lot of the old games you cant find anywhere so I could play the ones I thought were good :)

Commonly called Abandonware

Yeah... when I had my p166 and p300 was the standard, I downloaded a cple of em. Really fun

I like Rare games. Mainly Banjo-Kazooie. People say it\'s a knock off of Mario but it\'s not. For one, Mario games are usually suspended high above the ground making it hard to walk around, but Banjo-Kazooie lets you walk around and explore a bit. I\'ve been wanting to play BF 1942, it looks fun. Come to think of it, I haven\'t gamed very much either. I play Animal Crossing, but its not hardcore gaming like say Warcraft or SimCity (That\'s another game I need to play).

Isnt it Impossible Creatures?

Abandonware\'s wicked, I love Leisure Suit Larry, played space quest, and police quest for a while, but Larry\'s the king :)

Rare are the best (console) game makers ever. I had to buy an XBOX since I like their games, until then I\'ve been playing Shenmu, Dragons Lair 3D (The classic is better, sadly). The first game I got on the box was Morrowind..ahh..memories....

My parents never let me get a consol  :( , dad wanted one, mom didnt. So now I play Battlefield 1942 which is the best game on earth, I love that one (stunt servers!), and Black and White. Tough game, took me two years to beat the second island. Ooo and I forgot the \"Curse of Monkeys Island\" THAT game was cool. \"I\'m going to squer you with my sword\' \" First you better stop waving it around  like a feather duster\"  :D

Stupid nintendo gave rare to mircosoft....that made me mad at the gamecube so now i shun it

I know. But you it\'s no one\'s fault. It was economically smart. At first I shunned Rare for leaving Nintendo, but then I bought an XBOX (for the Rare games) and that\'s when I found Morrowind. If they hadn\'t left Nintendo I wouldn\'t have found this gem. I can\'t shun Microsoft for being power hungry and buying Rare, or Rare for taking the money when there was money to be had or Nintendo for not having quite as good of hardware as XBOX.
