It is someone's pet.
-
The same naming restrictions apply to pets as they do to characters. If you see a pet with a name that's not really a "name," right-click and read its description - usually the owner's name is at the bottom - and ask that player to rename his or her pet to something more suitable.
-
if they don't listen, should we report them to a GM?
-
Sure. Make a petition and we'll try to be a little more convincing :}

I'm sorry, I should have been a little more descriptive... when clicking on the animal I received the messages in my System tab. I was not able to look closely at the animal.
-
Wow, so you right clicked on the creature, and then left clicked on the eye?
The first hacker?
-
A case of server lag and "misplaced" packets.
-
oh...well...answered then.
-
That shouldn't be possible. The DR system prevents your client from using old "lagged" packets, and packets which do not belong to your client.

A while back I was told of a bug upon when a player would rename thier pet, old duplicates of that pet would spawn in random places with the old names of that pet. If you happened to find one of those, trying to view its description would spit back sometype of error. Not sure if this was ever fixed though. I don't mess with my pet anyways, (my character likes to say he ate it when he got hungry. Yum, chicken. :-X )
