Title: [pick sides for a great battle, please don't flame me]
Post by: Nerule on August 21, 2006, 12:14:55 am
Ok, so two secret guilds called The Legion of Chaos and The Dark Brotherhood are going to try to tak over the world, now we need to know who's on which side. You can join as individuals and guild leaders can sign up their guilds. Heres the chart:

Evil guilds:
The Legion of Chaos
Dark Brotherhood

Good guilds:
The Thirteenth Order
guardians of power

Evil invididuals:
Dameve
Myrthe
Quitarias
Rinasho
Frak Griffonsfire
Kyzer

Good individuals:
Dahoma
Kaerli
Jangeol
Orthex
eldoth_terevan
Ventos Gloki

story:
"Come to me..." Moaned a dreadful voice. A face appeared, it was a demon. Its face was red as blood, with black markings and two purple eyes. Pointy teeth shown as it talked, each as sharp as a tack. "Come to me..." It repeated. Nerule was startled. He then found himself on the street in Hydlaa. It was just a dream. He stood up, yet another day of selling worthless charms. He thought of a new design, maybe perhaps like the demon in his dream?

The new charms were selling faster then the old ones, and found himself ready to buy both food and a pickaxe by the end of the day. The next day he went to mine. The quarry neer the whizard's shop was full of gold. He had mined a huge amount of ore by the end of the day, and sold it all to the local blacksmith, Harnquist, and made a huge amount of money. Things looked up for him, ever since the demon in his dreams arrived. He bought armor and weapons as well as a huge meal, something he had longed for for months.
That night, the demon showed its face in Nerule's dreams again. "Go to the library..." It moaned, "look on the demon Morgorious....." Nerule woke up once again, he had been sleeping at the inn that night. He got up, dressed up, he had also bought new cloths, and bounded to the library. It was empty as ever, figures no one reads anymore. He had longed to be llowed inside but the librarian didn't wan Nerule dirtying the pages of the books. But the librarian didn't mind him come in. He found a book on demons, looking for the page on Morgorious. When he found it, he saw it contained everything about him. The painting in the book looked just like the face he saw....
He ripped that page right out of the book. "What ye be doing?" The librarian asked,
"None of your buisnuss," replied Nerule coldly. The librarian stood up,
"I'll have you fined for ripping pages!" he shouted. Nerule smirked.
"Isn't the rule 'no talking loudly in a library'?" He joked. He swftly ran to the labrarian, unsheething his sword. He pressed the sword to the librarian's neck, "I did abselutely nothing, understand?" He said, waving his hand around infont of his own neck, which ment death. The librarian nodded franticly. Nerule sheethed his sword and left.

"Excellent..." Moaned the demon, "I am most pleased."
Nerule smirked, "Yeah? Well don't expect me to be your slave," He snarled.
"Find an ally," said the demon. "Seak the one named Croza, he will help you."
"To help with what?" Asked Nerule.
"To summon me and to take over this world," Said the demon, before cackling. Nerule woke up, "Croza," he said. He knew were to find this person, the one who had to pay for being good, only because of the greed of the town's folk.
Walking around Hydlaa, Nerule came apon a beggar. "Spare change?" He asked.
"No," said Nerule.
"Please?" asked the beggar.
"I said no!" he shouted, then, with the slash of a sword, the beggar was dead. Nerule then saw a black enkidukai, it was Croza! He approached, "Come with me," He said to Croza, Croza followed him to an alley.
"Whats this about?" Asked Croza.
"You have been chosen to ally with me. I'v heard of your anguish, your grief. The so-called good hearted citizens," Replied Nerule, "In return for an alliance, you are promised eternal power."
"I accept," Said Croza.
they proceaded to his meeting room, were they and Croza's high councilers discussed the plans. Nerule desided to make a guild. Croza helped get members. The Legion of Chaos was born. The Heroes of Yilkilium, Croza's guild, was renamed to The Dark Brotherhood. Croza procided to find the rod of azure, a powerful artifact, tht could be used if Nerule's plans to summon the demon backfired. The two guilds grew, to ready themselves for the conquest.

Q: Why a whole war?
A: Do you really think everyone is gonna just let Nerule and his allies rule the world?

Q: Why this list?
A: to be sure who's on who's side.

Please sign up.

Having a background story, and the reasons why you are taking over the world, would help.

There are many Nuetral guilds, in order for them to decide which side to join, I am sure they would like to have more info.

I like the idea of a large war :)  you need to put a lot more thought into this for it to work.

It would be a very good idea to post a link (http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=25165.msg278326#msg278326) to your thread.

EDIT: You have made some good changes, and added a lot more history to your story. good work :)

I do like the story by Brendon a little more. It has a lot of room for many directions for the outcome.

Brendons stroy is here http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=25688.msg285535#msg285535

Yeah, a reason for the war would be nice.  Hope this works out though, and I will definately participate once this is put together in a more organized way.

Agreed, sign me up as an individual, unless of course my guild leader signs us all up.

But sign me up as the good side.

Post by: Farren Kutter on August 21, 2006, 04:07:19 pm
"A young enkidukai wanders the streets, he had been hated and spit at, made an outcast, but no more. He decided it was time to act, to show the world what he was really made of. He made money by creating and selling strange charms, until he had the money to buy a pickaxe. He mined and mined, and eventually made a bundle. He bought armor and weapons, and finally was allowed into the library, be learned of the many strange places that the world was made of, he learned of the world's hstory. One day, an innocent man asked him for money, but the enki refused. The man kept asking, then the enki killed him with the slash of a sword. He found it was fun to do that. That enkidukai was Nerule. Nerule then relised he could do that to the others who cast him out. He then began to dream of world conquest, where he could treat everyone who did not respect him like dirt, but those who joined him in his plan would be rewarded greatly. He one day began to seek allies, many joined him, and they began a guild. Another guild called The Dark Brotherhood had also joined him, who now take the mission of finding the azure rod. He began to find other members, to ready himself for the war that was sure to come."

You will find that a little bit better. I went through and corrected typos and spelling errors, though I'm not in a mood that is quite good enough to completely proofread the thing... Plus I just woke up :/

EDIT: Oh yeah, add Farren Kutter to the good individuals...

"...had been hated and spit at..."

Change spit to spat.

Fayodin Istar stands up.
"This world belongs to not one person.  This world belong to all who dwell in it!  I cannot let a psychopathic killer put this great land I have come to known and live in under tyranny.  I cannot let him kill of the good or enslave them for personal use.  People, warriors, fighters from distant lands, join us!  Live free and not under the shadow of this evil.  Fight for life! For Justice! Don't let him take over and force us to live in fear.   Join us against this evil in a fight for freedom!"
Fayodin Istar steps down and leaves the scene of applauds and yells and goes to a more serene spot in hydlaa.

sign the Elemental Light up for the good side.

OOC.  you need to specify a date and time for this.  preferably a weekend time.  You also have to inform us of WHERE this will take place.

[people, this is an OOC sign up, no one knows he's gonna try this.
Edit: I'm really dissappointed at the fact most people are gonna choose good for some reason, making the event unbalanced, and also it won't be scedualled untill there are enough guilds/people signed up

Title: Re: [pick sides for a great battle, please don't flame me]
Post by: John80sk on August 22, 2006, 04:42:29 am
You can add my character Jangeol to the good side... now, to be clear, this event is a war, not a single battle, right?  If that's the case you can add my secondary character, Dameve to the evil side... I could also try and get the guild involved, but helping Nerule take over the world probably isn't on the top of their priorities list.
Title: Re: [pick sides for a great battle, please don't flame me]
Post by: SovHed on August 22, 2006, 12:12:34 pm
Sov sees no reason to get his alliance involved therefore will not.
I am dissapointed that there are no evil guilds signing up.. perhaps its because they have sense.

the story doesnt seem sensible really.. just a annoyed little kid who enjoyed killing someone. Jeez thats peacer, he kills people for fun.. That seems like no reason to start a war..

If there was a good story behind this I may suggest applying our forces to the "evil" side.  But until that day... No

Note: I only speak for my guild and myself.. My allies may not agree with me but im just giving my thoughts :)

Title: Re: [pick sides for a great battle, please don't flame me]
Post by: SovHed on August 22, 2006, 03:30:21 pm
the war must have a reason.. for example guildwars are when 2 guilds have a disagreement or something similar.. your char seems to just be at war with the world because he killed 1 guy. If there was more than 1 guy's hate.. then yeah. otherwise someone will just come along and sit on your head, crushing your every bone... then its over! :)

I'm all for evil chars causing havok but just like Sov said, it's much better and enjoyable when they do it with a purpose that's appealing to RP. An evil character/guild should provoke a response in others, be it fear, hate, violence or a frown. The best part of having an evil char around is being able to interact, not dueling but what leads to that. I loved running into Kergen, Beanius and Drahlian when the dwarven wars took place, there was always interesting things happening before we even draw swords. I think any successfully evil char/guild should try to have that reaction from people. Claiming to be the source of all evil or the greatest threat to Yliakum doesn't guarantee that people will buy it. Personally, when my char runs into someone she's never met claiming to be such she ignores them, thinking they're no real threat. I try to assess "threats" based on actions. Do something evil, don't just talk about it. And when you do something evil, make sure it gets to people (and be ready to face the consequences).

After reading the Dark Brotherhood's thread I just got to thinking, perhaps someone could discover the location of the Rod of Azure.  As a result, guilds who believed no one had a right to that power attempted to reach the object in order to move it to a safe location.  Then you've got good guilds who want the object to defeat evil, evil guilds who want the object to take over the world, and neutral guilds who want to sell the object to the highest bidder.

It is a very common name. It isn't just in games but in books and movies too.  Croza Grimwell  has come up with a background  story to his/her guild and it doesn't resemble anything close to Morrowind or Oblivion. I don't think Croza Grimwell's  intent was to rip off the name, but more to let everyone know of his/her guilds nature and how it came to be. I think it fits well, but that is just my humble opinion.

A great idea would be to throw some dates out there into the mix and let people decide which one they want. The one with the most people being available would be the official date. Then we dont have anyone saying "depening on blahblahblah..." "how about we make it blahblahblah...".

I agree with Sov, this is truly an out of the blue RP, and the only reason, is because he killed one person. I'm sorry, but that's no reason for world domination. A good long story, and RPs leading up to this one are needed, if you want this to happen. RPs can't jut pop out of the blue, with no reason at all.

For example, if the Thieves randomly attacked the Enlightened, for no apparent reason other than they wanted to RP, it would be utterly pointless, there would have to be reason, a plot, a story behind it. Maybe they had openly shown resentment for us? And they had attepmted to destroy us before? Something along the lines of that would be good, in other words, try starting with some other RPs.
For example maybe the guild began killing certain people who were know for thier resentment of beggars and the poor [Aka XILLIX mwahahah jk jk  ;D :D], and after a while, it began to get worse and worse, the RPs get bigger, the hate of this guild rising, several attempts at wiping them out failing, as they continue to slowly grow and form thier plan, until it is decided that they should be dealt with....but don't go copying this, think it up yourself, just go along the lines of gradual buildup. A good Rp takes time to form.

Soo....now my fingers hurt.

a simple way to rebalance the war is for --say there are 3 dark guilds-- 1 goes & persuades about 2/5 of the goodie guilds that the other goodie guilds are corrupt-- another does the same, respectively...--and the last persuades the reamaining 1/5 & the neutrals that the others are corrupt... what's a clear sign that each group is corrupt? they are allying themselves with dark guilds & treating you suspiciously..
It's not a black n white good vs evil, but a more sneaky, rp -guided way to do things, divide n conquer. A way that I think would allow more balance than straight good vs evil. Especially since most evil doesn't think of itsself as evil, more revolutionary..

Quote from: Mindari
you CANT roleplay as dead farren. the worst that can happen is you get stuck in the DR for a few minuites. this happens many many times every day. i dont understand how you can be more dead than everyone else.

:) Actually, there are roleplayers in this game who roleplay true death. Once their character is dead, they do not bring them back and disclude the death relam completely. It isn't breaking any rules or settings that Dev's have laid out from what I have read. It seems to me that perhaps Farren and yourself have very different out looks on how to roleplay, which is not uncommon in planeshift.

Adding on to Akaye's post:
Besides, we have been told time after time to role-play in accordance with the settings and not the mechanics.  According to the settings, the Death Realm is a whole lot different than walking to the mailbox and back.  But, there have been plenty of other threads that have discussed this subject in much greater detail and are very interesting reading.

Hmmm Evil indivuals= Mercenaires?
Good Indivudal=Peasents to arms?
Well what im thinking of is that every evil indivudal is linked to a guild as a mercenairie?. And every good indivudal as a called to arms person ( linked to guild if want to"
This is my idea personaly.
(Cant spell merceanire right...)

I started a new topic that includes a different background story. I thought the idea was a good one, but the support for it seemed to fail. People were saying needs more depth to the story but did not give many suggestions, so i have tried to give a suggestion for a story. Please add any additional comments to that thread if you have any. You can find it at:

Bren, the complaints were for the original story, which I changed.

Sorry about that. I read the original story and the complaints a couple of days before i posted my own. I did not realise that the story had been updated. I like it.

How do you plan on getting things kick-started for the side of good?

I am keen to join, though my char is not much of a fighter. It would be good if there are other things that may occur which non-fighting chars could be involved in. I would be killed after the first hit from most other players.

Viendaal from the Guardians of Power would be driven to thwart evil from acomplishing its goals.

If you're in the guardians of power, no need to sign up as an individual, the guild is already signed up. And as for the good guilds being started, I guess evil would attack one of the good guilds. Whatever outcome happens that guild informs the others.

sounds a bit like prescripting... thoose who signed up here could go help when they hear about it, someone would probably scream the news, or just talk about it at harn which will draw attention and voila... that's my theory, do whatever your char would do =)

How do you think that sounds instead? It would be realistic and add an explanation to that theese join and others doesn't

In every RP event there has to be atleast a bit of prescripting.

Could I possibly un-sign up the Elemental Light, basically because im the guild leader, and Fayodin was only in the guild for less than a week.
